KIMBALL Wilfnrd Wayne Kimball, president of Sugar House Slake since 1961, has been called by the First Presidency as president of the Northern States Mission, with headquarters at Mount Prospect, III. lie succeeds Warren W. Henderson. Pres. Kimball, 1819 S. 9th East, is a member of Richards 2nd Ward. He retired as vice president of 1969 Co. and is now credit He was born April 9, 1903, to Wilford A. and Ella Free Kimball at Salt Lake City. He married Ruth Barton in the Salt Lake Temple, June 6, 1928. They have five children. His Church service includes bishop's counselor in Burton and Rictards wards and bishop of Richards Ward. He was high councilor in Sugar House Stake when he became stake president. Presidents' Reception Families and friends of missionaries serving in areas to which new mission presidents have been called will have an opportunity to meet the new president and his wife. A reception will be held Jane 23 at 7 p.m. in the Church Office Building, 47 E. South Temple. new presidents have been called Thirty-fou- r anti will participate in a seminar prior to their departure for the mission field. Each president will be assigned to a room in the Church Office Building so visitors will have an opportunity to visit with them in an individual way. Mrs Kimball has worked in the MIA, Primary and Relief Society including stake Relief Society president in Sugar House Stake. She was born Jan. 8, 1907, in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Alfred J. and Elizabeth L. Pearl Burton. SAMUEL BOREN Samuel Boren, a temple worker at the Arizona Temple, will head the Southeast Mexican Mission at Veracruz, according to a call from the First Presidency. He Will succeed Pres. Keith Ronr.ney. Pres. Boren, who resides in Mesa, Ariz., is executive director of the Housing Authority of Mesa. He was born Feb. 26, 1916, at Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Mariano and Angela Penovi Boren. He married Clara A. Lorenzi of Buenos Aires Sept. 4, 1941. They have four children. He is a certified public accountant. He has served in many leadership positions in the Church including counselor in the Uruguayan Mission. He was treasurer of the Church Building Committee at Montevideo, Uruguay. Mrs. Boren, a native of Buenos Aires, was born Feb. 8, 1920, to Alejandro and Clara Hodes Lorenzi. She worked as an assistant medical technician. She has served in the Church in the Relief Society and MIA in Uruguay and Argentina. She is also a temple worker. Florida Stake Created; Utah Stake Reorganized PENSACOLA STAKE Stanford Leroy Stapleton, president of Pensacola, Fla., District was called and set apart as president of the new Pensacola Stake. Elder Mark E. Petersen of the Council of the Twelve directed the organization of the new stake which is the 488th stake in the Church. It was organized from the Pensacola District of the Florida Mission. Regional representative of the Twelve Alvin C. Chace and Pres. Glen L. Rudd of the Florida Mission assisted Elder Petersen. Called to serve with Pres. Stapleton were Harold Lee Miller Sr., as first counselor and Nelson Lee Roane, second counselor. Both men had been serving as counselors in the district presidency. John Wiley Downing, former president of Pensacola Second Branch was ordained patriarch of the new stake. The Pensacola Stake consists of the Crestview, Eglin, Ft. Walton, Mobile, Mobile Second, Pensacola and Pensacola Second wards and three independent branches, Atmore, Milton and Olive. Population of the stake is 2,997. Pres. Stapleton was born Nov. 14, 1925 at Cedar Key, Fla. to Robert Thomas and Alice Mae McKinney Stapleton. He is an accounting technician for the United States Air Force. His church service includes Crestview branch president, district president of Alabama and Gulf districts and in the Florida Mission presidency. He married Sallie Mable Kennedy of Crestview, Fla., Dec. 10, 1947. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They have three sons. Pres. Miller was born March 17, 1924 at GRANT Information Comes Rapidly Thanks To 2 Ham Operators Two ham radio operators helped the Church News this week to obtain the news of the organization of the new Pago Pago Stake, created June 15 in American Samoa by Elder Howard W. Hunter of the Council of Twelve and Elder Henry D. Taylor, Assistant to the Twelve. The operator in Samoa gave the needed facts to a ham operator in Provo, Utah who in turn forwarded them to the Church News office the day after the stake was organized. The stake is composed of six wards and three branches. They are Aua, Pago Pago, Nuuuli.'Mapusaga, Falehiu and Mapusagafou Wards and Tulao, Auto and Leone branches. Patrick Peters was sustained as the president of the new stake with Opapo Afualo and John W. Welton as counselors. Pomona, Calif., to Thomas E. and Nellie Lee Rankard Thomas. He joined the Church Nov. 30 at Tucson, Ariz. He married Rilla Nelson of Tucson, Ariz. April 25, 1944 at the Arizona Temple. They have five children. He has served as branch president of Eglin and Stillwater, Okla. branches and was bishop of Albuquerque Second and Sixth wards. He is a Lt Col. in the United States Air Force. He graduated from the University of Southern California, receiving his MBA. Pres. Roane was born Oct. 13, 1926 at Baltimore, Md. to Hartford Gray and Iiis Orena Knight Roane. He joined the Church April 21, 1952 in East Lansing, Mich. He graduated from the University of Florida and studied at Michigan State University. He is Senior account executive with Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith Inc. He married Eugenia Hoover of Orlando, Fla., Jan. 15, 1949. They have seven children. He has served in various branch and district positions. WEEK STAKE A new presidency was installed at the regular quarterly conference of Grant Stake with Elder Marion G. Romney, of the Council of the Twelve, presiding. Russell G. Williams, of the high council was sustained president, with Bishop Lloyd L. Brown, of Grant 7th Ward, as first counselor, and Dietrich Karl Gehmlich, of the high council, as second counselor. Pres. Williams replaces Pres. Eugene C. Ludwig, who was recently called as president of the New Zealand South Mission. Released W'ith him were his counselors, Duane H. Lindford and W. Lowell Castleton. Pres. Williams was born March 19, 1929 in Salt Lake City, a son of Lewis T. and Lucile Gardner Williams. He married Dorothy Russell of Salt Lake City. They have four children. He received a B.S. degree from University of Utah. Following a mission to the New England States, he was stake superintendent of YMMIA, bishops counselor, bishop and high councilor. He is employed by the Church as personnel director. Pres. Brown was born Nov. 9, 1929 in Salt Lake City, a son of Joseph A. and Vera Larsen Brown. He married Elise Lamoreaux of Spanish Fork, Utah. They are parents of live children. Active in the Church, he was an Elders Quorum president and high councilor. He is president of OK Motors, Inc. Pres.
