Show Burhfik CCC Notes Carrying out the f ir,e-f ig'hting tradition of the company, which furnished a hundred men for the historic Sehvay fire in Idaho, Company 150S responded to a fire some 75 miles from camp in the vicinity of Indian Peak and after about 11 hours of steady work brought the stubborn blaze under control. The fire burned over a seat ion and a half of closely timbered tim-bered land, mainly pinion pinej and native cedar. I A total of 81 men and their foremen battled the blaze. Robert Whicker, in temporary charge of the spike camp, was first on the scene with about 19 men, and re-enforcements re-enforcements arrived promptly from the main camp under the ! control of Wilford Johnson, act-j ing superintendent. ! Joseph Lee of the 'grazing ser- vice personnel brought early' morning morn-ing relief and welcome food to the men. Fortunately for all concerned, con-cerned, a fire-fighting school had been held the week previous. |
