S-34j'5" Items of interest taken from the j $?Sfiw3 pgfej Fifes of the Milford News of Fifteen years ago. this week 4 Milford's Volunteer Fire department depart-ment had made a record, run to tho William Morris resident in the south end of town, where a fire had started in the coal bin-The bin-The fire was extinguished ami no other damage was done. The Milford Lions club had taken 22 Boy Scouts on an excursion ex-cursion to Minersville canyon. The purpose of this affair was to conduct con-duct efficiency tests for promotion. promo-tion. First prizes were awarded to the following: for cooking, to Allen Tanner, a Scout knife donated do-nated by Mr. Pool; Jack Hillary, for fire-making, a compass given by R. Bellingmo; endurance test, consisting of climbing, William Cochrane jr., an Ingersoll watch presented by the Milford Phar- macy; spelling contest, Wallace Moore, a Scout knife donated by Dr. Markham and Clark Kesler. Miss Bessie Killam had been chosen valedictorian of her graduation grad-uation class. Mrs. Vena Wilson bad returned from Lorenz, Iowa, where she had spent a year and a half. Mrs. Jack Williams and children had motored to Provo for some time. Miss Dorothy Murdock had accompanied them. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jefferson and children were here for a week visiting friends and disposing of their household goods. Dr. Addison Bybee had corn pleted the building of a handsome hand-some new house on his ranch j south of Milford. j The Pierian club had met at the i home of Mrs. Fay Hickman. Those ! who had attended were Mesdames D. A. Baxter, C. T. Woodbury, E. F. Sherwood, C. A. Bailey, Ross Smith, Joe Smith, Gene Kirk, M. P. Lewis and P. Fisher. Mrs. W. S. Schow was hostess to members of the M G. club and several guests. "500" was played with Mrs. Bellingmo, Mrs. Charles Miller, Mrs. George Himstreet and Mrs. Jack Thiessen winning the prizes. Mrs. Gene Pitchforth had entertained enter-tained members of the A. M. club nnd the following guests: Mrs J. M. Kinney, Mrs. Frank Farmer, Mrs. C. R. Grimshaw, Mrs. Jos. R. Murdock, Mrs. William Morley and Mrs. Bert Hoagland. Mrs. John Killam and Mrs. Roy Coleman had entertained at a handkerchief shower in honor of Mrs. Andrew Thompson, who was leaving to make her home in Salt Lake City. |
