Show Big Show Set at , -State Fair by Defense Council Final arrangements have been completed for the exhibition of a million dollar show at the Utah State Fair, September 13 through 21. Through the combined efforts of the Utah Civil Defense Council, the Federal Civil Defence Administration Admin-istration and the Valley Forge Foundation, the "Alert America" convoy, with its sensational Civil Defense exhibit, will be on view at the Industrial Arts Building. Admission will be free and State, city, county and Civil Defense De-fense officials are urging all who attend the fair to be sure to see "Alert America." The exhibit will arrive at the Fair Grounds on September 9, in a convoy of 10 huge trucks. Assembly As-sembly work will take two days. Billed as the "show that may save your life," the "Alert America" Amer-ica" convoy combines authentic information of the Civil Defense program at all levels with dra-matic dra-matic presentation technique. One of the outstanding features of the show is a startling section showing the effects of an atomic bomb on a typical American city. With accompanying sound and commentary, spectators will see a city destroyed before their eyes and replaced by a mass of flaming rubble. , Also on exhibit will be displays of the use of atomic energy in peace on the farm, in the home and in the factory; the effect of weapons on cities and farms; what the citizen must do to protect himself and his family; and many other scientific exhibits designed to show every person what his stake is in Civil Defense and what he must do to become part of it. The "Alert America" convoy has visited most of the country's major ma-jor cities and has been viewed by . over a million people. It is sponsored spon-sored by the Valley Forge Foundation, Foun-dation, supported by business organizations or-ganizations throughout the nation. Three convoys, assembled at a cost of $1,000,000 have been touring tour-ing the country, and the show's appearance in Utah was made possible through the efforts of State Civil Defense heads who fel. it was the best possible means of acquainting Utahns with the problems prob-lems of Civii Defense and the part each must play in it. |
