Show Earwig Bait Has Proven Effective The earwig bait developed by the U. S. Department of Agriculture Agricul-ture proved to be effective where all persons in a locality applied it. This bait consists of: Bran 12 pounds Sodium fluosilicate 1 pound Fish oil 1 quart In preparing this bait, mix the poison thoroughly with the dry bran, then add the fish oil and thoroughly remix. No water should be added. Baiting should occur in evening, the bait being scattered about the foundations of all buildings, bases of trees and shrubs, and about other known earwig hiding places. Home owners may secure relief from earwigs for a short time by spraying or dusting liberally with 50 percent wettable chlordane or DDT. This would be applied in the evening during fair weather. It is best to avoid sprinkling the treated areas for a least two nights after application to give the poison an opportunity to destroy as many earwigs as possible while they are roaming sfbout the treated treat-ed yard during the night. |
