Show THAT DANDY PAPER camp holabird lid nov 29 dear editor no doubt you think me rather ungrateful tor not writing sooner to thank you tor the interest you show and do for the boys in the service I 1 received one of those dandy papers again this morning and again spent an hour with the people of dixie and decided to write a few lines and show a little appreciation at least I 1 have been with the camp hola bard band since coming here and have enjoyed being in such a good musical organization it is a band of 45 pieces and many of the players are or were professional in civil life and what with hard practice we have one of the best military bands in the country thanksgiving night we played in washington D C at a ball given by the officers of the motor transport corps and had a dandy time while there since I 1 wrote you last I 1 have had a promotion and having lately been made a corporal I 1 of course was glad to know I 1 deserved it and am only one more of the dixie boys to be promoted all of us are surely glad that we have peace again and only wait until we receive an honorable discharge before we can return home again and mingle with friends once more I 1 had hoped to be one of the boys to get over there but being in the band here held me from it again thanking you tor the little paper I 1 am yours truly J webb holabird band camp holabird baltimore md |
