for the 1986 contest is October 30 Wesley Peterson is chairman of the board of supervisors of the Delta Soil Conservation District LaWanna Peterson assists as a supervisor Middle Delta Eleanor Dalton School principal urges students at the Sixth Grade Level to participate in the current contest Thomas Dr I am Utah State Board of Education aware that cuts may be mandated by the legislature andor by the Utah State Board of Education However on our district level if the board has any discretion as to where cuts are to be made I am opposed to cuts in the kindergarten program 4 am in favor of a specific program in our district for the gifted and A few advanced talented student placement programs are offered at the high school level in English and But I am not aware of a Chemistry specific program for these talented students on a district level from grades kindergarten through twelve 5 am concerned about the amount of money teachers spend out of pocket for items their students needs I am aware of one teacher who spent $900 for classroom items the district could not pay for With the ception of IPP the Millard County School District spends more money than any other organization in this would work diligently to see county that the tax monies allocated to the district are spent carefully and fairly I realize that if I am elected to this office will not be able to please everyone all of the time Simply stated I would do my best would appreciate your support in the November election Support Your Ctoercli amcU rYYmrrerrrrriTTn mrriTTTTTrTrrrrrTrrm’mTTV’nrTrTTrrrrr i There will Millard Blood Drive Dr Thomas E Chandler announces his candidacy for the Millard County School Board Precinct Four (Delta) He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from BYU in 1973 and in 1977 the University of Louisville awarded him the Doctor of Dental Medicine degree Dr Chandler is a member of the American Dental Association and the National Dental Council Presently he served as a member of the board of directors of the National Dental Council Also he is serving as a member of the Delta City Library Board Dr Chandler married the former Karen Jones of Denver Colorado and they are the parents of two children: Scott age six and Jennifer age two months The Chandlers moved to Delta in January of 1979 and have enjoyed the eight years they have lived here Karen a certified music teacher with a specialty in violin and orchestra and Dr Chandler an accomplished pianist have been involved as members of the Utah Music Teachers Association Millard Chapter Many Delta residents have enjoyed Karen’s violin solos piano along with Dr Chandler’s accompaniment Dr Chandler is very aware of the school local of a system good portance and the challenge faced by the administration of the district and the school board in running the district effectively and efficiently At present the State of Utah and local government entities such as the Millard County School District are facing serious funding problems Dr Chandler stated: am concerned about the numerous fees parents of students must pay when registering them for If elected school the at high would try to as a board member reduce or eliminate these fees would vote against cutting 2 special education programs Reducing special purpose optional programs such as those for the handicapped would be most unfair to those children who need help the most I am 3 to reducing opposed kindergarten to three days per week as proposed by the Utah State Board of Education The Utah Society of State wants School Board Superintendents than the
