Show OGDEN WEDNESDAY January 13 ELECTION OF OFFICERS The Chamber or Commerce Holds Its Annual Election Doings In the Courts The directors of the chamber of commerce com-merce met yesterday afternoon for the purpose of electing officers for the ensuing year The meeting was called to order by Colonel W H Harvey who stated the object for which the meeting was called On proceeding to ballot Mr Harvey was declared elected president by a unanimous vote A B Patton was elected first vice president The directors were undecided in the choice for second vicepresident and it was decided de-cided to take an adjournment until Monday Ten of the directors were present Almost Frozen in the Snow A Finlander whoso name could not be learned ran away from the Union Pacific hospital yesterday afternoon about 2 oclock The fellow was in a demented condition and as soon as his attendants discovered that he had escaped the police were notified and a vigilant search was made He was traced to Nob Hill where be was found bare footed in the snow and almost frozen to death The hospital ambulance am-bulance was soon on hand and the unfortunate unfortu-nate fellow brought back to tho city He I became s > o thoroughly chilled and frozen it was with difficulty that he was recovered I to consciousness The County Court The county court met in the office of Judge Bishop yesterday morning All members were present The question of the division of the Slater ville school district came up for consideration considera-tion and on taking a vote it was decided to divide it the boundary to be decided upon at some future time The county superintendent of schools presented an estimate of the cost of running run-ning the schools of Wober county for the yoar 1892 whioh was 10000 above the territorial ter-ritorial school tax Selectman Shurtliff made a report of the conaition of affairs on tho Middle Fork road to La Plata He stated that last Wednesday ho went to Huntsville and there procured men and teams and began the work of breaking the snow in the road EO as to make it passable About seven miles were opened to a place called the Narrows when force ho hail employed refused i re-fused to go any further The men were interested in-terested in some timber at the Narrows and having tho road clear that far they didnt care for the balance of the way Mr Shnrtliff thought it would cost 150 to open the road on to La Plata The whole matt r of keeping the road open was referred re-ferred to him with power to act The court then adjourned for one week Judge Cross Court The case of the people vs Alva Robert and John Montgomery charged with having hav-ing committed malicious mischief at North Ogden several days ago was concluded in Judge Cross court day before yesterday rlhe evidence produced was not sufficient to implicate Alva and he was subsequently discharged The others were were tried before a jury and convicted Being in rather needy circumstances the court fined each SI and costs of prosecution which it is understood they paid Before Jndce Bishop Before Judge Bishop yesterday a contest case in tho estate of Silas H Tracy occupied occu-pied the entire afternoon A hearing was had in final accounting and the petition for the distribution of the estate The case seems to be a very complicated affair Tracy died about ten years ago and until now no effort has ever been made by the heirs to make a settlement As a consequence conse-quence it has led to a multiplicity of contests con-tests P 0 S of A Installation The Patriotic Sons of America will entertain en-tertain their
