Show Psychological drama 'Diamond' probes mystery of masculinity A triple treat will be in store for the Babcock Theater audiences when Use Perl's student award play will premiere on Jan. 7. The treat comes from the efforts of three students who are assembling the production. David Dean, the director, is completing his master's thesis in directing and Kay Mengers is working for her M.F.A. in theater design by her work on the sets, lighting and costumes. Use Perl completes the trio working on her masters in playwriting. The play is unique in the sense that the production is entirely student run and is part of the regular Babcock season. Psychological Drama The play itself is a psychological drama about the nature of feminity and masculinity and is explosive in the suggestion that man reverts to animalistic actions when he finds that communication between others of his species is impossible. The play will feature Elaine Vetterli as Edith and Paul Workman as Douglas. Both are competent actors and should give good performances. Paul was seen most recently in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf ' and Elaine gave an excellent performance in Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Mikado." "Diamond" will run from Jan. 7-11 at 8:00 at Babcock. |
