Show By Betty Wiley 624-3215 The report on fishing at Otter Creek Reservoir is that its never been better and the park staff said they had not been this busy in years. The Antimony Merc will be having its annual barbecue, Friday, July 5 at 5 p.m. with a live band. Speakers at Sunday's LDS Sacrament meeting were the high councilmen, and the Primary sang two songs for Father's Day. Jerry Stewart and a busy crew put a new roof on his house over the weekend. The cattlemen and their riders were busy pushing cattle up the trail at Dry Wash. A meeting was held on Monday evening concerning the Sanford Fire. It was held at the town hall. Several members of the ranger district were here and Nancy Twitchell from the Garfield County News. We appreciated Nancy coming to cover this fire report. The fire has gone from a controlled con-trolled burn to an out-of-control fire coming right north along the west mountain. Our first report was that because it was so expensive, they were just going to let it burn itself out. Since it has spread so far, they know that they must take action now. As of today, they have 166 men stationed sta-tioned here. They are staying at the Rockin R' Lodge and eating breakfast and evening meals at the lodge. Their noon sack lunch is contracted from someone some-one in Panguitch. As of Saturday, June 8, due to high 50 mph winds, this is now a priority fire. We are sitting right in the middle of the smoke and sometimes we can't even see our next door neighbor. Last night, someone coming from Ruby's Inn could see the flames all along the mountain above Deer Creek, Mt. Dutton and Pole Canyon. It is also on some BLM land as well as the forest. r i |
