Show PROTECT OUR FORESTS FROM FIRE Tourists are on the road in greater numbers than ever before. This means that 1923 will see more people "on wheels" than any previous year. Every automobile camping party that enters a western state or whose members live in a western state should be cautioned against starting disastrous forest fires through leaving unextinguished camp-fires camp-fires or carelessly throwing cigarettes or matches along the roadside or in the brush. A jail sentence or a heavy fine should await the person who is guilty or starting a damaging fire in our forests. President Harding has designated April 22-28 as forest projection pro-jection week and it is well to remind the public thus early in the season of the dangers of forest fires. Thereis is no possible excuse for the man who leaves a smouldering smould-ering campfire or who carelessly throws cigars or matches into dry brush. Let every camper or automobile party see that they put out their own fires and watch diligently to catch any party neglecting neglect-ing to do the same. |
