Show THE ass mss F A 6 CASH UNION through the kindness of manager david Holni gren alvictor K E aladden of the neus had the pleasure last saturday of attending the annual meeting of the stockholders of the farmers cash union held at tremonton Tre monton at which aich meeting a report of the years year 9 business transacted was read and other interesting Inform information adon given the farmers believe in doing things thing 8 on oil the square every corner being perfectly jointed with the of the very finest material and to more fully illustrate the days proceedings commenced at 12 with a regular banquet in the fraternal hall over the tremonton Tre monton furniture store where the ladies of the bustling burg had prepared loaves no fishes potatoes meats vegetables salads deserts etc etc enough tor for a multitude and then baskets full were left over admission to the banquet was obtained by card which Holni holmgren gren and ills his assistant C J dewey handed to each of the farmers and their friends 3 as they came to the companas comp anys office it was certainly some sight to see the three long tables in the fraternal hall loaded with all the good things that the stomach of man delights to take care of and each table surrounded with as many eaters as could comfortably find room As fast as a place was made empty it was taken by a a waiting guest whose appetite had been whetted to SL L razor edge and tho th way the mashed cream potatoes pork and beans cold meat salad etc vanished was wonderful to behold the banquet put the farmers in a happy mood for their meeting which was held in the school building at the meeting was attended by about farmers and from the report of manager david holmgren wo we make the following excerpt the the farmers casy casu union y e e a 1 june 11 1907 with cas 8 0 n hand but owing bills payable so practically and truly speaking an or of farmers began business for themselves with in deb edness perfectly consistent with the beginning of most farmers associations this organization began life under these auspicious circumstances but contrary to most organizations attempted by the farmers this oue one has made good by the sale of stock amount ing to aich which together with the earnings of the company which I 1 have been a handsome net profit having havi paid an 8 dividend three years out of four it is more like a fairy tale than facts to maintain this organization of farmers still I 1 exists and with less than work ing capital at any one time the following business has been transacted 1907 1908 00 1009 1909 1910 so that in round numbers tile the association has handled over products of the farm and supplies necessary for the maintain ence we have handled in the year 1910 carloads of supplies and products of the larm farm as fol follows lous 27 cars coal 53 cars grain 67 cars hay 23 25 cars of 0 lumber and shingles 3 cars of grain bags I 1 car of baab wire and nails 1 car of machinery headers mowers and rakes I 1 car of woven held field wire we have paid out for salaries and wages the four outgoing members of the board of directors viz C W richards 11 51 hansen F alan E roche rocha and david holmgren were reelected elected re to serve for the ensuing year in his hia report sigr Holi Holni ogren gren stated that the cash union had bad now arrived at the cruc cruci able lable point in its career so far as the majority of the farmers were concerned tor for the reason that the business had entirely outgrown the capital stock and if the farmers did not support the institution by subscribing more stock in order to give the business more money for a working capital the organization would be compelled to pass into the hands of a few men who would then conduct the business on a profitable basis to themselves and the farmers would lose out the amazing feature of the history of the farmers cash union Is the fact that it has been built up to tho the present splendid stand standing fur on such a small capital but it could not have accomplished complis hed that ahat had bad tt it not been for continued on nas fivek |
