After the day session our report of last Woduesday closed, The evening scssiqn commenced, at 8:80 with an eloquent address by Hpn. B. II. Roberts, our candidate for repro. sontatlvo. Mr.Roberts thanked the con-veption con-veption for tho honor which had been boat owed upon him and pledged his fidelity to the cause of Democracy nud the pcoplo of Utah, He expressed regret re-gret that tho Congressional representation representa-tion from tho Stato of Utah was not sufficient to allow all of his former opponents op-ponents canal honor with hlmsolf. Ho roferrcd to tho magnificent platforms of tho Utah nud National Democracy, and stated that tho principles of those platforms wcra most dear to his heart and would rccolve his hearty support. Tho nomination ot n candidate for justice of the Supromo Court was then declared In order and two names were placed in nomination: Judge R. N, Baskin of Salt Lako and Judgo Honry II. Rolapp of Ogden. In connection with these nominations nomina-tions wo cannot fall to commond the address of Judgo J. B. Tho convention then adjourned after voting thanks to tho temporary uud permanent oQlccrs. As. the 8ocond county in the Stato, Utah county was honored with tho temporary secretaryship In tho porson of our efficient treasurer, Mrs. Ellon Jnkcmau. In tho pormanont organization organi-zation we wero glvon tho fourth vice-chairman, vice-chairman, Mrs. Luolla Haymoad, and chaplain, Judgo John B. Mllnor. Wo havo reason to feel proud, of Utah county's delegates who distinguished distin-guished themselves in the convention and conferred honor both upon themselves them-selves and upon us all. In such a convention it would bo singular lf no opposition wero developed devel-oped or blttor words spoken. Wo arc, howovcr, nssured by tho final action that tho feeling was most harmonious as a wholo and that tho Democrats of Utah county will heartily unitowith all tho Democrats of tho State, and with much asslstanoo outsldo tho party, to eleot our Stato ticket. |
