The new officers are excited for next year and have several new interesting ideas. DeVere Day, Castle Dale, graduated from Emery High School in 1995, after which he and Snow College attended served as freshman senator. Following his first year at Snow, DeVere served an LDS mission to Toronto, Canada, he then returned to Snow for the 1998-199- 9 school year where he earned the honor of Valedictorian, although he had enough credits to graduate, and a cumulative grade point average of 4.0, he decided to return to Snow for a third year in order to accept his position as president. She is currently of the Badgers Against Alcohol and Drugs Club. Shannon is excited to serve with the vice-preside- nt senate and have the opportunity to help everyone. Erika Miller, Hyrum, graduated from Mountain Crest High ' School where she served as junior class president. Currently she is working on the Snow Activities Committee. Erika Dlans to improve the attendance at Snow activities, as well as give better advance notice of activities. Jen Fabrizio, Sandy, attended Jordan High School. She is currently serving with the Snow College Senate. She plans to work hand in hand with the various club presidents. Nate Evans, Kearns, enjoys outdoors and sports. Nate will serve as the director of external relations. He plans to perpetuate the new external relations book, which is a current project. He really enjoys Snow College, he states that "the small town and laid back attitude really help students keep focused on school." Marie Hatch, West Jordan, plans to center her efforts of service. She plans to have groups oriented in service, specifically with cleaning up the campus and aiding with the construction of new buildings. Snow College is sure to have an exciting and productive year. The student body officers present a sense of dedication and love for Snow College. This zeal is sure to translate into hard work and the diligence it takes to produce a year of incomparable success. Discussion will include election of new officers for county office and planning for up coming campaigns. One idea he plans to implement is continuing the tradition of burning the "S" on the mountain. He would like to see the faculty and students work together in order to better the school. The statement made by the mayor of Littleton, not wanting the National Rifle Association to hold its scheduled meeting in Denver, is understandable. The desire of good citizens wanting to rid us of the menace of hand guns so easily obtained, is understandable. The need to keep guns from those who suffer mental illness is understandable. The need to keep weapons of destruction, of any type, from those who hate, is understandable. The good citizens who wish to have guns for the several reasons they feel strongly about, is understandable. So with all this understanding, what is to be done? Many solutions are being put up as the best one. Many voices are heard explaining why this or that is the best and final solution. May I offer this? We are told to love God with all our heart, and, might and strength. I enjoyed his point of view and wit. Every once in a while, he would run his newspaper piece under the heading of something like "Things I Have Learned While Looking for Something Else".
