Show STRIKE TROUBLE MAY BE SETTLED Increase in Wages May Appease New York Contractors. NEW TORK, April 30. The threatened threat-ened strike of 30,000 members of the Rockmen and Excavators' union against the members of the Contractors' Contrac-tors' ' Protective association for an increase in-crease in wages, scheduled, to take place1 on May 1, has, it was said last night, been postponed and may not take place at all Vlncenro - Vechi, business agent of the union, said that the conference bad been held with representatives of the association and a settlement may be effected. It was announced that the Manhattan Manhat-tan Brotherhood, 8000 in number, would receive an increase from $4 to J4.80 on July 1. . |
