Show LOCAL SOCIALISTS OBSERVE MAY DAY May day was celebrated by the Socialists Social-ists of Salt Lake and vicinity at the Federation Fed-eration of Labor hall last night. The meeting was in the form of a social gathering gath-ering and entertainment. A. G. Allen acted, as chairman and the meeting opened with the "Marseillaise," after which W. S. Dalton addressed those present pres-ent at length on the condition' of labor end capital. The speaker referred to the situation In Russia and other places. The programme presented included songs by Peter Odenwalder; legerdemain and feats of magic by Prof. Barton; violin solos by Miss Cecille Cowdin; songs by Walter Corbett; club swinging by W. . Evans; ccrnet solo by L. Joirenson; and a song of his own composition, entitled "The Banner of Labor Day," by Charles Stewart Stew-art of BlnKham. Music was also furnished fur-nished by Mrs. J. C. Gilbert's Ladies' orchestra. or-chestra. "The Marseillaise," by the orchestra or-chestra closed the programme. A dance will be held by the Industrial Workers on Saturday evening. |
