The German naval experts who have been quietly making a tour of inspection of the Turkish navy State that the ships are for tho most part of such an antiquated description as to make them dangerous for crews to sail in. There is no force in Europe, they say, which has shown so little advance ad-vance of late years 30 little disposition disposi-tion to keep up with the times, This fact is held to bo one of considerable importance as to the future. The Greek ' navy is being augmented at a time when the Turkish navy is sinking and decaying. With the additions for which tenders were recently invited in England Eng-land and elsewhere, there can bo no doubt that at the next opportunity Greece will display a commanding naval na-val force in the Levant. Greeks feel deep concern at tho events which are taking plac6 in Macedonia and which nppear to favor Bulgarian claims in that direction. If any change should happen unfavorable to the legitimate aspirations of Greece it is likely that her people will demand compdesation in quarters where their martiine power can have due weight. , |
