Show Page 10 Thursday, June 28,1979 Fourth Of July Will Be Intents -t spend an evening under the Big Top when Park City fe- introduced to its brand new tent in an old fashioned family Fourth of July celebration Wednesday. The day's festivities will begin, with a 6:30 sunrise salute, followed by a sumptuous sump-tuous pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 at City Park. At 10:00 a.m. there will be a flag ceremony on Main Street, riehr aftpr which will start the traditional parade. Parade entrants will form at the top of Main Street and will compete for awards for the best horse and rider, the best band, best float, best car, best costume, most unique and best bicycle. The parade will end at the Kimball Kim-ball Art Center. Then there will be children's footraces 'in front of the post office, as well as the ladies nail driving contest and the watermelon eating contest, and a sawdust scramble in Swede Alley. Next in line will be the skateboard contest con-test down Main Street. Cable Mapping ine mapping phase portion por-tion of a city-wide cable TV system installation will be completed this week and cable line stringing will start soon, according to engineer George Satmar of Cotten Assoc., the Colorado firm contracted by the Nor-walk Nor-walk Co. to do the mapping. Norwalk Co. is the Salt Lake City, firm granted the franchise fran-chise to develop a cable TV system for Park City. Satmar said the main TV station building and tower site will be located near Bonanza Drive in Prospector Prospec-tor Square. From the Bonanza station south up through old town cable lines will be strung above ground on power and phone lines. Newer sections of town will be serviced by underground lines. There'll be plenty of excitement ex-citement at 3:00 when the demolition derby begins at Ernie's rodeo grounds at Kimball Junction. More lumps and bumps follow as the Muckers take on the Dead Goat in a furious rugby match at 5 at City Park. Thanks to the Park City Municipal Corp., the Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce and the Recreation Department, the town's new yellow and white tent will be open for visitors at 6 when dinner will be served. ser-ved. On hand will be reasonably-priced, good ol' fashioned 4th food, including hamburgers and hot dogs. The tent will be inaugurated complete with the breaking of a champagne bottle. Local historian Bea Hummer Hum-mer will offer insights to the birth of Park City and its colorful past. Awards will be given for parad winners, and hopefully there will be an auction of patriotic cakes. Then Salt Lake's Fertile Dirt Band will offer listen-ting listen-ting pleasure that soon will turn to foot stomping when Joanne "The General" Scow begins her square dance calling. As the sun sets over City Park, everyone is invited to the Park City Golf Course for a spectacular fireworks display. "The whole dav will be just great," said Shirley Smith of the Chamber of Commerce. "And this will be a special way for the Chamber, the City and the Recreation Department to show the town their tent and invite them to come and enjoy en-joy it. We want everyone to come out next Wednesday and have a great old fashioned 4th of July!"
