Community Literacy Program will begin in Sanpete County Do you or some member of your family have difficulty learning to read? Within a short time, a community literacy program will begin in Sanpete County. This project will be housed in the basement of the Manti City Library. he primary goal of this project is to provide the help 1 needed by those individuals who have learning problems and specifically those who have difficulty with language problems such as reading, spelling, writing and speech. The program will be made available also for those persons who need help in learning to speak the English language. This help will be available for individuals of all ages. However, the main thrust of the project is to provide help for children and adults handicapped as a residt of dvslexia. This is a condition that makes it difficult for individuals to learn to read and spell effectively. I here area variety of causes for this condition. Sometimes dyslexia is caused by high fevers and certain diseases. Chemical imbalance, concussions, and premature birth sometimes cause dyslexia. Other causes of dyslexia are congenital or hereditary. Many cases of dyslexia are inherited from parents, grandparents and 1 ing a multisensory process. The greatest problems that dyslexic individuals face are feelings of self blame, lack of self confidence, limited self esteem and the fear that they will be called upon to read aloud or spell something on the blackboard. Many dyslexic children quit school due to anxiety and feelings of hopelessness. The greatest tragedy of all is that most dyslexic individuals can be taught effective language skills if they are fortunate enough to receive the kind of help needed to assure success. Individuals who are dyslexic will always be dyslexic as there is no known cure for dy slexia. But nearly all dyslexic individuals can be taught skills that will enable them to read and to spell at a much higher level. The primary goal of this literacy project are as follows: 1. d it ion. 2.
