Argyle, of Eden, will serve in the Philippines Cebu Mission. They spoke at the Middlefork Ward in Eden on April 29. Elder Jason Lex Kilgore, son of Dan and Kay Kilgore of Huntsville, will serve in the Brazil Rio de Janeiro Mission. He spoke at the Middleton Ward in Huntsville on April 29. Returning Missionaries Sister Katie Songer, daughter of Steve and Pat Songer of Huntsville, served in the Japan Tokyo South Mission. She spoke at the Huntsville 1st Ward on April 29. Young Womanhood The following young women from the Huntsville 1st Ward recently earned their Young Womanhood of Recognition Award. Jenny Duke, daughter of Greg and Julie Duke of Huntsville. Jenny Graduated from Weber High last year and is attending Weber State University. Roxanne Harper, daughter of Rock and Sandy Harper of Huntsville. Roxanne is a senior at Weber High this year and is also attending classes at Weber State University. Lexie McKay, daughter of Marl McKay of Huntsville. Lexie is a senior at Weber High this year. Tara May, daughter of Jim and Ruth May of Huntsville. Tara is a senior at Weber High this year. Kara Jorgensen, daughter of Donna Jorgensen and Neil Jorgensen, both of Huntsville. Kara is a senior at Weber High this year. Sandy Clapperton, daughter of Alan & Romona Clapperton of Huntsville. Sandy Graduated from Weber High last year. Melissa Hastings EDEN - Our lovely daughter finished this phase of her eternal journey on April 24, 2001 when she died in an automobile accident in Ogden Canyon. Melissa was 19 years old. She was born in Logan, Utah on May 2, 1981 to Holly and Michael Hastings. For nearly 20 years she brightened our lives with her smile, her love, her humor, her warmth, and her beauty. Melissa attended Doxey Elementary, Valley Elementary, Snowcrest Jr. High, and graduated from Weber High School where she was active in A Cappella Choir, Drama, and the Swing Dance Club. She had a leading role in the school play “Much Ado About Nothing.” She attended Weber State University where she was an honor student. Her favorite subjects were anatomy and physiology in which she excelled. She was planning on becoming an Occupational Therapist. She was a ski instructor at Nordic Valley Ski Resort, and a chiropractic assistant at Natural Health and Spine. She also taught at Kids Daze last summer where she was much loved by her students. Missy loved life. She loved the outdoors. She loved hiking and camping. She loved being with her friends and her family. She loved rollerblading at the parkway, playing Frisbee, and cutting class to build a snowman. She loved to play the piano, and her sensitivity to things of the spirit was evident in her music. She was a member of the Liberty 3rd Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served as a primary teacher. She loved the little children she taught, and had a special ability to reach out to every one and make them feel special. She was active in the Young Women’s organization and received her Young Women Recognition Award She had many wonderful friends who were a big part of her life. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Liberty 3rd Ward Chapel, 2900 N. Hwy 162, Eden, Utah. Internment , Eden Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to www.myers-mortuary.com Zina Shupe Beckstead Runnels Missy will continue to bless other’s lives by virtue of her decision to be an organ donor. She is survived by her parents Holly and Michael Hastings, and her two brothers Nathan and Scott of Eden, Utah; her grandparents Betty Faulkner of Orlando, Florida and Bill Olson of Port Richey, Florida. She is preceded in death by her grandparents George and Thelma Hastings; her cousins Andrew and Katherine Willis, Joshua Sickler, and Holly Marie Olson; and her uncles OGDEN — Zina Shupe Beckstead Runnels, 84, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Infinia Health Care of stroke related causes. She was born May 2, 1916 in Huntsville, Utah to Samuel Boyd Shupe and Zina E. Froerer. She married Wesley R. Beckstead, he preceded her in death in 1972. She then married Audie M. Runnels, he also preceded her in death. She was a member of the LDS Church and served two missions. She retired from Hill Air Force Base as an instrument inspector. Surviving are her children, Lynn Hunter, Ogden; Charles W. Beckstead, Ogden; William Leon Beckstead, Ogden; Dale R. Beckstead, Willard; Terry A. Sparks, Ogden; Larry N. Beckstead, Ogden; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of 14 children. Cremation under the direction of Myers Mortuary in Ogden.
