Sumsion has returned to Preston, Idaho, after spending the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Sumsion.- A. L. Thorpe was in Salt Lake on business Tuesday. ' Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Dalton entertained enter-tained at dinner last Thursday evening eve-ning for Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Miner, Mr. and Mrs. George Russell, Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Whittaker, Mrs. Frank Memory and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jensen. The members of th Mothers Study club and Alpha Beta club were the gnests of the Home Culture club at the homes of Mrs. H. Urquhart in the Hungerford apartments last Saturday Sat-urday afternoon. Mrs. W. H. Meueray, Mrs. G. L.' Barron and Mrs. A. L. Garbett were the assisting assist-ing hostesses. : ' 1 Corn shocks and golden pumpkins were nt either side of the entrance to the apartment and a replica of a human skeleton dangled overhead. The living room was attractively decorated with the various symbols sym-bols of Hallowe'en in orange and black, while numerous shaded lights added an air of mystery. The opening open-ing numbers of the program was a song, "America the Beautiful," sung by the three clubs. The guests were then welcomed by past president, Mrs. B. M. M.endpnhall. A humorous one-act play was given by a well chosen cast, which included Mrs. J. R. Anderson, Mrs. YV. A. Firmage, Mrs. C. G. Salisbury, and Mrs. D. A. Smith. The speaker for the afternoon 'was Miss Alice Reynolds, who told in her interesting way of her recent visit to many foreign countries, she dealt particularly with France, Egypt, Palestine, Switzerland and Norway. Following Miss Reynolds, a duet with a Hallowe'en spirit, "Little Orphan Annie," was sung by Mrs. Harold Christenson and Mrs. D. A. Smith, with Mrs. Smith playing play-ing the accompaniment. The concluding con-cluding number was an ear splitting split-ting selection by a spook orchestra, brandishing familiar instruments a'nd emitting weird sounds, they responded re-sponded to several encores. Rrefreshments, with Hallowe'en suggestions were served hy the hostesses. host-esses. Miss Bessie Wonnacott visited Thursday in Midvale with Miss Bertha Litid. Mrs. Edward Kurk is visiting in Salt Lake City this week. Mrs. J. E, Wonnacott is visiting with her daughter in Soldier Summit, Sum-mit, Mrs. C. L. Dyet. Mrs. Glen Kiel visited in Salt Lake is visiting with her sister, Mrs. Glen Neil. Mrs. George Russell entertained for Mrs. Frank Memory and children chil-dren of Spring Canyon and Mrs. M. F. Miner pne day last week. Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Miner, Mrs. Frank Memory and children and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jensen took noon day dinner with Mrs. Nancy Miner Sunday the ocension being her eightieth birthday. Many beautiful flowers were given to her. In the evening Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Miner, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Miner, Mr. and Mrs. Thorn Miller and Mr. and Mrs. A. Ulock came in und all were delightfully de-lightfully entertained by mncr) numbers given by Mrs. Bell Cran-dall Cran-dall and John Bailey. Mrs. M. F. Miner entertained at a Hallowe'en party for her daughter Marian Saturday evening, the home was decorated with spooky cats and Hallowe'en colors, games were played and music enjoyed by seventeen seven-teen guests. Mrs. Miner was assisted assist-ed by Mrs. Frank Memory and Mrs. Frunld Jensen. Mrs. Dimick Childs and family wer0 the dinner guests Sunday of Mrs. Walter Wheeler. |
