Show Sugar House Gets First New Police Car Have you seen our, have you seen our, have you seen our new car? It's that shiny red Ford super de luxe job Charlie Larson has been tooling around Sugar House these last few (Jays. Public Safety Commissioner L. C. Romney paid a nice compliment com-pliment to Sugar House when he assigned Lt. Larson, chief of the local gendarmerie, the first, new car delivered to the department de-partment out of an order for several new machines for the city police force. We sort of needed it, too, as the ambulance car we had out here is in dry dock for repairs. But when it's fixed up it will be reassigned here, giving Sugar House two machines. Lt. Larson reports the Sugar House working folks are cooperating co-operating well in the drive to keep cars parked all day off the main stems. He and his force are making systematic patrols during the day, chalk-marking the non-movers, and 35 tickets have been issued for overtime parking. (The limit here is two hours.) He reminds that there is plenty of all-day parking space in the two lots sponsor ed by the chamber of com merce, in addition to free parking park-ing accommodations around some of the larger stores. Paint crews have been busy the past few days re-striping the crosswalks, and speaking of crosswalks, the big unsolved mystery of the moment is: What happened to the 'Stop for Pedestrians' Ped-estrians' sign that used to be out in front of the post office? It disappeared three weeks ago and nary a clue to Its whereabouts where-abouts has turned up. If someone some-one accidentally picked it up on his bumper and hauled it home, please return it to Charlie. (No questions asked). |
