others who had bad aided in erecting BO so excellent a structure in so brief a time the building of the schoolhouse school house from the time lime ground was broken till its comple tien only occupied about nine months at A t night a social party was held in the schoolhouse school house and all enjoyed a social asocial time on monday the tiie winter term of the school of that district opened with brother samuel brinton aa as teacher acdan and an enrolment of forty ix pupils pupil fatal accident on tuesday george reat about sixteen t years old and william read bead about twelve years old sons bons of mr thos read of hooper accompanied by a boy about seven years old named Wilson on the range boget to get a loa los load ld of sagebrush they took with them a loaded musket for the purpose of shooting game if they baw paw any the gun was left on the wagon they traveled to within about a mile of Ogden citY when hey they had cut and piled plied up their brush they went to thes tho weber river to get a drink of water seeing a rabbit on the way william read asked if he might go and get the gun being answered in the affirmative he started onn off for that purpose sc A few minutes after a loud joud report was heard when geo ran to the wagon where he his brother lying in the last of death it appears that william was taking the from tho wagon it was discharged and the ball with which it was loaded entered just under the boys boy left eye tearing onn off the top of the head and scattering his brains in all di lons george read bead immediately went to 0 oden den for assistance mr thomas doxey and mr thomas jenkins jr returned with the boy george and took the body of william to hl chiq parents residence mr and mrs mis read bead have our sympathies in this sad bereavement the body was to be taken to ogden orden C today to day for interment the above came yesterday but was accidentally mislaid mi the manti temple we are indebted to elder wilford woodruff for the following brief description of the temple and temple grounds at manti sanpete county as furnished to him by elder W H folsom the superintendent of the building the temple will be feet long and ninety five feet wide outside measurement and seventy nine feet high from top of water table to square of building the arter table will be three feet above the grade the towers thirty feet square at the bhe base the west tower will be feet and the east tower feet high from the grade of building the grade of the temple site will be elevated sixty three feet above the street grade on the west the main room will be eighty by feet in they clear and twenty feet high in the clear the middle chamber will be twenty feet high the upper chamber will be twenty eight feet high in the clear and eighty feet by freet feet in the clear between walls with self supporting roof root without columns the lower terrace wall is feet long fifteen feet high 0 above grade six feet thick at basey base and two feet thick at top rhe uhe che ube other terraces are somewhat shorter there will be four walls of nearly the same dimensions and three terrace terraced tho the ursu first terrace forty 1 three feet wide the second forty feet wide the third thirty nive five feet wide the walls walla will average seventeen feet high and four feet thick from top to bottom the steps in front will be sixteen feet wide with landings at the level ef of each terrace making in all stepa of six inches rise and twelve inches tread we have havo men at work at present and fifteen teams I 1 see the Terald JE made a mistake of men in giving an account of our big blast we have made estimates that we lifted at least 2500 yards of rock and debris which would weigh at least 2500 2600 tons the immediate site of the temple is on the tho foot of the mountain which juts out and runs down to the northeast north east corner of the city indeed the blasting of part of the foot of the mountain acs ics i to level the ground for the actual site of the building the walls walla of the terraces are built of the rock loosened by the blasting back of the temple a quarter of a mile up the mountain ia Is a spring the water of which it is designed to convey in pipes into the Temple tempie and can be carried into the towers thereof this spring is at the quarry where the whitish rock for the temple is procured this rock iles iles lies in layers and irregular terraces and is easily quarried the treble terracing of the temple grounds is because of the continued steep slope of the foot of the mountain from the mountain itself down to the city none non 0 of the terrace walls are in a right line they are all shaped to hug the foot of the mountain and if of sunn sufficient lelent length would half embrace the site of the temple thus each terrace wall is in the shape of an extended or broad A with the top of the A or front of the terrace sliced straight off perhaps athard a i third of the way from i thu tho point the whole of the terrace walls forming four figures of that description one within the ot herthe berthe temple standing a little back of the highest and between the terracing and the mountain each terrace wall being parallel with the others the whole site with the terraces and the steps from one to another crowned with the temple at the back under the immediate shelter of the mountain when finished according to design and the rech of valley west north and south will constitute one of the finest landscapes anywhere to be seen from FRIDAYS DAILY DEC 14 reprieved wallace wilkerson was to have been executed today to day oiher writing stated that it had i been taken from the body it ha had d been written and signed by a y young oung man named flygare to his wife in the sixteenth ward of this city of course the only apparently patently ly legitimate conclusion was that the body was that of flygare subsequently search failed RO so far as we know either to discover the remains or the two men whose names were for the building we have seen a draft of the elevation of the building prepared by the architect mr obed taylor it gives an excellent idea of what the building will be like when finished and if the design be faithfully adhered heredio to andee and we understand such buch is the intention it will be a anoble noble structure the tep top of the tower which will rise from near the middle of the roof will be feet above the ground level A pleasant gathering yesterday evening the members of the thirteenth ward young ladies retrenchment society and a number of invited guests of both sexes convened at
