Show Special Jazz Program Scheduled at College George Shearing, and other artists ar-tists have performed with the U of U musicians. An hour of entertainment, humor, hu-mor, nostalgia, musical enjoyment, enjoy-ment, and education will be provided pro-vided at College of Southern Utah Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 8:15 p. m. in the CSU auditorium. Under the sponsorship of the Associated As-sociated Students of CSU, the University of Utah will present "The History of Jazz", featuring a full band with vocalist, Dixieland Dixie-land band, parade march band, cool combo, experimental combo and rock and roll combo. Dr. William L. Fowler, associate associ-ate professor of music at U of U will narrate the program. Prof es-sor es-sor Fowler has studied with Andres An-dres Segovia, noted guitarist of Sienna, Italy. His compositions have won an international prize, a national prize and other awards and have been performed perform-ed throughout the United States and Europe. He has been commissioned com-missioned to create compositions for the Rockefeller Foundation and other agencies. Dr. Fowler said that all styles I . . . f "" r ' - ' j r DR. WILLIAM L. FOWLER of popular music and jazz will be illustrated and explained during dur-ing the course of the program. The use of various instruments in jazz will be demonstrated in the performance of favorite tunes.
