Show City Council Makes Appointments; Hears Financial, State Road Reports and Main, and 4. Needed improvements im-provements and repairs on Center Street. The mayor indicated that the commission had requested substantiating sub-stantiating documents and information in-formation pertaining to the request re-quest for the under or overpass at (00 South Street. Zoning and planning consultant, Dale Des-pain, Des-pain, was assigned the responsibility respon-sibility of obtaining such information, inform-ation, the Mayor said. Appointments were the order of business at the February 3 .neeting of the Cedar City Council, Coun-cil, according to a report by Mayor May-or Loren Whetten. Appointed as recreation director direc-tor was Ken Benson. He will serve a one-year term and the appointment appoint-ment will be made on an annual basis. City Manager Arnold Anderson was also appointed as purchasing purchas-ing agent for the city to extend his duties and responsibilities to the Council. Appointments were also made to round out the Cedar City Safety Safe-ty Committee. Previously it had been announced that Vurge Smith will serve as chairman. His appointment, along with that of Herman Anderson as a member, mem-ber, will run through July 1, 1DG8. Appointed for three year terms on the council with terms to run through July 1, 1969, were Tony Lambert and Jack Hayes. One-year One-year appointments to the council coun-cil included Jay Monsen and J. Clair Morris. It was also reported at the council meeting that the city water board had been reorganized reorganiz-ed with Warren Bulloch to serve as president and Ralph B. Piatt as vice president. City attorney R. L. Gardner will serve the board as secretary and treasurer. Bulloch Bul-loch was also named as the city representative to the Iron County Water Users Association with Piatt to serve as alternate. Two bid openings were also held in connection with the Council meeting. High bidder for use of property adjacent to the Cedar High School was submitted submit-ted by Wilford Webster. Gasoline and diesel fuel bids were accepted as follows: Regular Regu-lar gasoline, American Oil Co.; thel gasoline, Sinclair and diesel fuel, Standard Oil Co. City Manager also spent some time discussing with the council a report on the financial and budgeting report of the first six months of the fiscal year, and a tentative street oiling program for the summer was discussed but no action was taken. Mayor Whetten reported to the council on his meeting with members of the State Highway Cornmissioon in meetings held in Cedar City recently. He indicated indicat-ed that four items were presented to the commission for consideration. considera-tion. They were listed in order of importance as: 1. A request for an over or underpass of the Interstate In-terstate Highway system at 600 South Street; 2. Needs for repairs and improvements of Cedar City's Main Street; 3. A request for a semifore light at 400 South Street |
