Show Arrested for Larceny Mrs Kate Shear of the Palace Hotel l was arrested Saturday night on a warrant war-rant issued by Commissioner McKay She was charged by N D Hodge wit having feloniously stolen a trunk and contents valued at 248 The case came up this forenoon but was postponed until 2 p m when the examination was proceeded pro-ceeded with General Maxwell prosecuted prose-cuted and Judge Hoge defended The prosecution claimed that Hodge owed Mrs Shear a certain amount for board but was restrained from paying her by garnishee of a creditor ere demanded the amount due and upon Mr Hodges refusal to pay locked up the trunks and still retains possession The defense claimed the questions involved were such as should be determined by a civil action Upon learning that a civil action was now pending before Justice Pyper the Commissioner postponed his decision until Monday morning by which time the civil case will probably be decided |
