Show GRANTS GOOD TURNOut TURN-Out Riding in the Family Carriage This Afternoon IVonderfulIj Cheerful and Feeling and Looking Better The Strict Medical Attendance Dispensed Dis-pensed With for the Present Sunday with Grant NEW YORK April 20 Everything passed quietly at the Grant mansion Saturday night Cyrus W Field drove up to the house at 945 Sunday morning and had a short conversation with the General who he said he found FEELING AND LOOKING MUCH BETTER Than on his previous visit lie said the doctors would not allow the General togo to-go out just at present as the air was so chilly At 11 30 the General appeared at the front window and seemed to enjoy the bright sunshine which streamed in upon him People passing on the other side of the street noticed his presence most of the men lifting their hats which the General recognized with apparent pleasure About the same time Jesse Grant went out for a stroll with his little daughter Nellie She saw the upturned faces on the other side of the street looked up to the window where the General Gen-eral stood and quickly placing both chubby hands to her lips threw a kiss to him I THERES GRANDPA CRIED TIlE CHILD As she did so and in response Grant nodded to the childand smiled At 2 oclock the entire staff of physicians phy-sicians met in consultation after which the bulletin was issued At the consultation consult-ation held at this hour Drs Barker Sands Shrady and Douglas were present General Grant was found to be in an improved im-proved condition both general and local compared with the last statement The physicians in attendance are and have been in entire agreement concerning the management of this case THE DANGER CONSIDERED PAST Unless an unforeseen change for the worse occurs there will not be another general consultation in a week Dr Shradv will not tall nfrnin until Woflnoa day Dr Douglas will be in charge and will remain nights if Gen Grant desires de-sires Other doctors are to be in readiness readi-ness to respond to a call from Dr Doug las should a change take place The General this afternoon for the first time in many days slept an hour upon the bed Gen Geo B McClellan Sidney Dillon and Alex S Webb called in the afternoon NEW YORK April 20 Leiand Stanford accompanied by Rev Dr J P Newman entered the Grant residence about 8 I oclock last night and they remained for two hours When they emerged from the house Dr Newman said GRANT IS WONDERFULLY CHEERFUL lie thought that Mrs Stanford came with I us and he walked down sta to the parlor par-lor to welcome her He found out his mistake and was escorted back to the library again by way of the elevator Dr Douglas came again about 9 oclock and saftl there would be no bulletins during the night General Grant will be without with-out any medical attendant tonight I STILL PROGRESSING FAVORABLY NEW YORK April 20No incident interrupted in-terrupted the quiet of the Grant household house-hold last night The patient rested and slept through until 615 this morning The doctor left at 7 a m and will return at 2 oclock when it is believed the General Gen-eral will go out for a drive THE GENERAL OUT RIDING NEW YORK April 20At 155 oclock this afternoon General Grants family carriage was driven to the door The General appeared and wore a high hat about his neck was a silk scarf and closely buttoned about his figure was a heavy beaver overcoat The General carried a light cane and unaided walked down the steps with a firm step As he crossed the flagging he bowed and smiled as a hundred hats were testified in salute by those who assembled on the walks across the street |
