This morning the members of the parish, to the number .if three hundred, gathered around the .hurch entrance. When 0 Sullivan iiul lather Morrill mado their appcar-inco, appcar-inco, to celebrate mass at the usual liour, they were denied admittance, and hreatened with violence if they made in attempt to enter. 0 Sulliven took he names of those present,and said he liad orders from the Bishop to excommunicate excom-municate them. The announcement was received with shouts of derision. 0 Sullivan than retired. The members L'f the church seem determined and say ihey will re.-L-t the prients at all hazards, until the grievances of which they complain arc rectitied. No violence has takeu place, but the people in the ricinity of the church are very much excited. Should the priests gain an jntraiiee to the church by strategy, as :hey threaten, it is feared the building will be demolished over their Leads, I'or the parishoner are desperate although al-though very cool aud orderly. |
