Show THE AMADOR COMJIU AlSTB. One of those little episodes that will occasionally occur in the best regnl ted communities, is now on the tapis in Amador county. It is simply a combination com-bination of men who desire to set law at dvtiance, because under it they cannot can-not carry out their designs with other peop o'h moRey. The miners of the Sutter Creek dis'riot "struck" for an increase of wages, the proprieion ol the mines refused to accede to the de maods, and the leaguers drove all the other workmen from the mines. Still the proprietors held out and the strikers strik-ers flopped the pumps as a last means of coercion, knowing that the mines eould be ruined if allowed to fill ith water. The command te stop the pomps was accompanied with a threat of "consequeDoes" if it was not heeded. heed-ed. This last act has had the des-ired effect. The G-uvernor has ordered ou. two companies of militia from tuts cm ind two more from Sacramento, who will proceed at once to the scene of iction and aid the Amador authorities in pres- rving the peace. It is ieportd that the Amador Communists who number 400 have cut the telegraph wires between Latrobe and the mine; also, that tbey are armed and entrenched, entrench-ed, and are determined to retain possession pos-session of the mines until their demands de-mands are acceded to. There may be trouble. 5. F. A' to. |
