Show FG hosts first bluegrass festival Plans are underway for Sanpete first-evbluegrass Countys music festival, to be held in Fountain Green, where more than 1,500 people are expected to attend the Norbest Birchcreek Bluegrass Festival on July 9 and 10. Evans says that his wife and he have been preparing for the event for a long time, travelling the country, learning how to plan the festival and which bands to include, such as some from the state, west coast and Sanpete County. The festival will be held in Birchcreek, located about two miles outside of Fountain Green, where Russ and Sharron Evans call home. The Norbest Birchcreek Bluegrass festival will include more than a dozen bands, as well as impromptu jam sessions and workshops. The concert also kicks off the grand opening of a new music store about to open in a historic in Fountain Green, building featuring bluegrass instruments and supplies. Russ and Sharron Evans have bought two buildings which they are renovating and turning into a music store and antique shop. They are also involved in a citizens group that is trying to renovate other historic buildings in town. The Evans ran a music store prior to moving to Fountain Green eight years ago, his local music store will open next month. Russ plays mandolin, and his wife plays bass fiddle. Both are members of the same bluegrass band. The music store, appropriately named, Fountain Green Music, will sell instruments and accompanying supplies, as well as offer lessons. It will also bring musicians into town every six to eight weeks for intimate concerts in the store.
