Receiving guests were Com. and Mrs. L. C, Romney and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Jelesnik. Representatives of the press, radio and city and state officials were also guests. The nationally famous trio were in the city for the musicale spon-sored by Eugene Jelesnik, Saturday evening and attracted an enthusi-astic crowd of more than 5,000. Mrs. Strong Hostess Mrs. Don Strong entertained her neighbors January 28th in honor of Mrs, Kors Lockwood's birthday. Guests were Mrs. Arthur Rogers, Mrs. Eva Kristy, Mrs. James Whit-ney, Mrs. James Gerrard, Mrs. Vera Nelson, Mrs. James Sanders, and Mrs. Strong. Sweetheart Ball Planned by Bryan Ward MIA "It Could Happen To You" for you could be chosen sweetheart of the Sweetheart Ball of Bryan Ward Wednesday, Feb. 13. The ball will feature a live or-chestra to provide music for the party. Highlighting the evening will be the choosing of a queen. Arrangements for the ball are under the direction of the presi-dency, Betty Colby, Irene Bricker, Luella Anderson, Beth Sessions and Naomi Eldredge, Tom Fyans Takes Trip To Chicago Tom Fyans, returned today from a trip to Chicago where he at-tended an A. B. Dick training -- school in the city. Tom is manager of the Duplicating, Dictating and Visual products department of ZCMI on Social Hall Avenue and a member of the ZCMI Wholesale Staff. Derinings Attend Chicago Meet ... Mr. and Mrs. Dean Denning at-tended the National Home Builders Convention in Chicago as guests of the Allen Steel Company. Mr. Denning received the trip as an award for selling the largest quanity of. steel in the residential area. Babies... Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Croft, 2365 Maywood Dr., are parents of a baby girl. The little miss, the second little girl, was also wel-comed by four brothers. The special name is as yet undecided by the Crofts! Mrs. Croft is the form-er June Mackay. Alumni Association of Westminster College Plan Social A combined business and social meeting of Westminster alumni has been called for February . 4 by Robert McHenry, president of the school's Alumni association. The meeting will be held in the stu-dent lounge at the college at 8 p.m. and both four-ye- ar and two-ye- ar graduates are invited to partici-pate. Discussion of a constitution for the association, the publication of a regular news bulletin and other matters looking toward the step-ping up of Westminster alumni activities will feature the business meeting. Refreshments will be served. Mr. McHenry, Blaine Heardall, vice president; Leola J. Church, secretary, and John Brown, trea-surer will be in charge of the meeting. Hawaiian Theme Set For Severities Party The Bryan Ward Seventy Quor-um and wives enjoyed a social and dinner party last week. An Hawaiian theme was carried out in the program and table deco-rations. Hawaiian music added to the romantic island touch to the affair. - "A group called "The Islanders" presented several dance and songs and told about the native dances. Table decorations were designed by Beth Bond, Edla Purdie and Norma Crowe and were small hula dancers, grass huts and palm trees. Holladay Community Church Schedules Square Dances Square dances at Holladay Com-munity Church began Jan. 4th and they have them every other Friday and they are a lot of fun, at least that is the report. The next one will be February 1, and the next one after that February 15th. Everyone is invited you don't have to be an expert, you can be a beginner. They start at 8 P. M. every other Friday, and there's a small charge for the caller. |
