which will be held in rochester N Y commencing on the of september next voted that the committee on fruit write a re report ort on the pro progress ress of fruit culture in these valleys with a view national association the sixth session will ivill be held in corinthian hall in the city of rochester new york commencing on wednesday the twenty fourth d dax day la of september next at 10 am and wll will I 1 continue for several days among the objects of this meeting are the followings t to bring together the most distinguished of our landa land and anti by a free interchange of experience to collect and diffuse such researches and discoveries as have been recently made in the science of I 1 to 0 o hear the reports of the various state committees and other district associations to revise and enlarge the Socie tys catalogue of fruits to assist in determining the synonym synonyms es by bi which the same fruit is known in america or europe to ascertain the relative value of different parts of our country what are suitable for particular localities what whal new nevi sorts give T promise romise of being worthy of dissemination and especially what are ad adapted re ted to general cultivation the tho remarkable remAr kabIe kable and gratifying progress which has been attained of late years in this branch of rural industry is in no small degree attributable to the establishment and salutary of horticultural and homolo societies it is therefore desirable that th at every state and territory of the union should be represented in this convention SQ that the advantages resulting from this meeting may be generally ene rally raily and widely diffused heid held as it will be at a convenient point between the eastern st states ates and the western easily accessible from the south and also from the canadas it is anticipated that the attendance will be larger than on any former occasion and the ben beneficial eff efi results to the american farmer and gardener increased all al horticultural agricultural and other ether kindred associations of the united states statis and of the british provinces are requested u ested to send such number of dele delegates ates as tl ahry lly ily may deem expedient and nurserymen nurseryman and all other persons persona interested in the cultivation of fruit are invited to be present and to participate in the deliberations of the convention corm corn enton 1 order to increase as much as possible the utility of the occasion and to facilitate business members and delegates 0 are requested to forward specimens of fruits grown in rk their re rei spec tive districts and esteemed worthy of notice also papers descriptive of their mode of cultivation of diseases and insects injurious to vec vee vegetation tation of remedies for the same and also to 10 communicate whatever may aid in promoting the objects of the meeting each contributor tri butor is requested to make out a complete list of his specimens and present the same
