Show Court Hangers-on Get Laugh From Auto Case Spectators had a. smile or two at the city court this morning as the case of Ezra Peterson was heard. Peterson arrested for a mlx-up In license plates on three different ears appeared yesterday In the city court and his caRe was taken under advisement advise-ment by Judge I- R- Roberts until this morning County Attorney Joseph B Bates asked permission to speak a few words In behalf of the defendant and attempted to show that the complaint charging Peterson with the offense was not sufficient to convict him The complaint. Bates contended, allowed the prisoner no chance at explanation Following Attorney Bates argu- say a few words and for a few moments mo-ments speaking In rapid-fire order, he vividly presented his case During the greater portion of his argument he told of three automobiles. two trucks and a roadster, and at the conclusion con-clusion of his remarks, all present were somewhat confused as to the status of the cars. Judge Roberts found the defendant guilty. He denied a motion on the purt of Attorney Bates for a stay of execution and fined Peterson $20 A five days' suspension of sentence sen-tence was granted nnd It is understood that Peterson will appeal the case |
