She expects most of the classes will be taught in community schools and extension divisions. Her major concern is that women learn how to evaluate their skills, sell themselves to employers, and make contact with the employers who could give them the jobs they really want. We will be teaching the women how to write resumes, how to interview, how to determine their career direction. Also we will help them deal with nonsupportive family members," she says. Kelsons tool is a train- ing manual she has written, to be distributed to 200 teachers in Utah community schools. Our aim is to reach the rural woman," Kelson says, but we are also reaching women in cities. In areas with high unemployment rates we will be helping teachers determine what jobs are available, and helping the women retrain themselves for those jobs. Kelson has been writing the training manual for two SL Gets Convention The Salt Lake Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau has successfully bid for the National Student Nurses Association convention for 1980. Bruce McDaniel, bureau administrator, said the convention is expected to attract about 2,500 student nurses to the Salt Palace sessions. The association held its national convention here in 1974 with a record attendance. Maureen Maher, business and convention services director of the association, said her group was returning to Salt Lake because the registration and housing departments of the bureau were the finest and best staffed of any she had dealt with in the United States.
