BLOODY riots have been going oil on in the he city cly i dir in ing the past forty eight hours the conflict began on saturday afternoon iu in the bloody sixth ward between a gang calling themselves the dead rabbits and tile the bowery boys in in bayard street near mulberry fire pire firearms were freely used and seven persons killed and or thirty wounded jn in the seventh and thirteenth wards there were also serious af frays in which a number of persons including a policeman were badly injured last evening the fight was renewed in in the sixth ward when a terrible conflict took place between two factions and eleven persons were shot man many of whom are supposed to be fatally wounded the police did all they could to 10 suppress the riots but they were totally insufficient even to protect themselves from the fury f u ry of the mobs and had it not been for the presence ence of the military in the very heart of the rioters strongholds strong holds there here is no knowing know ing where the matter would have ended A number m b r 0 of f policemen were seriously injured by the riot in bayard street N Y herald july julig 6 1
