called upon to make a few remarks this morning I 1 feel to do I 1 go 0 with pleasure the lord being my helper in the first place I 1 will say that I 1 am happy for the t privilege lege of having a name ana anu ana a place in the kingdom ingdon of god and among the saints in these valleys I 1 feel thankful unto the lord continually when what I 1 realize his blessings bestowed upon me hild and also the blessings bestowed upon this people I 1 have been down in the lower regions for a short time and have recently returned from there I 1 believe I 1 have made four trips to the states since I 1 have been living in it these valleys and I 1 will say in it regard to the inhabitants in those regions that to me there is a perceivable difference in the spirit of things every time I 1 go down an increase of wicked wickedness ness in their midst and surely my visits have a tendency to make me appreciate the society of the saints and the pi privilege I 1 enjoy of sojourning sojo with them I 1 have been associated with the church of jesus christ of latter day saints for the last twenty years and although I 1 rejoice now I 1 feel that I 1 should rejoice more exceedingly 11 had I 1 made more improvement and increased more rapidly in the knowledge of god but I 1 feel to thank the almighty m eighty that things are as well with me as they are I 1 since I 1 have been in this kingdom I 1 lia lla have ve observed as closely as I 1 havo hava been enabled to do the dealings of our father in heaven with us its and I 1 have come to the firm conclusion and I 1 may say that I 1 have been fixed in this opinion during duning the greater part of my citizenship in this kingdom that our father in the heavens is our god that he looks to our interest and that in all the ilia both of the wicked and the ilia righteous lie will overrule all things b for the greatest good to his people ican truly say that I 1 have never felt fell easier never felt more comfortable than I 1 have since I 1 have returned home hottle and been led to consider the position which this people occupy not only before this nation that we have been associated with but before all the nations of iha the earth it is true as I 1 lately observed to president young 1 that the saints as a people are living five years ahead of the times but I 1 feel to re rejoice joice jolce that the time has come for this people by the tile s sanction netlon of the almighty and according 11 to the dictation of bis big servants abts to take an independent position and throw off the yoke of oppression I 1 realize that such events have got to transpire for such things have been made manifest through tile the servants of the lord and tins this people are 0 to o become terrible to such an ail extent that the nations of the earth have to take lake up the saying let us not go up to fight against ainest zion for tile the inhabitants thereof are terrible gerrib ie 10 should the lord take this handful of people and make them mighty and powerful to the sustaining taini rig tig of this kingdom in the midst of the nations of the earth surely all people will be brought to acknowledge the power of god and I 1 verily believe that lie he will do it i the feelings of certain portions of the tile united states at least I 1 will say of the leading men the rulers must be very strenuous in regard to movements against us when I 1 reflect upon the fact of their calling troops from minnesota and sending them to utah to operate against tile the latter day saints I 1 am convinced that their feelings are wrought up to make some general and united move against against this people 1 I ha have vo felt in my heart under these circumstances to say in the words of the file old sa saying ying let her rip ashes all oak and 1 know the lord will guide her ber safely into port As to their having any power to bring evil or distress upon tile the saints further than the wisdom of the almighty shall see will be for our belief benefit it I 1 do not believe a word of it if we are in the tho hands of the he lord and are endeavoring deavo ring to live our religion what does it matter to us what comes or what goes if we live we are living unto the lord and if we die dle lie lle we die unto anto the lord and if he sees fit to let us be removed from this sphere of action we are still in the line of our duty no doubt we will enter in toa sphere after we leave this where we can do much more for the building up of the king kingdom Zing dom I 1 have come to the conclusion that it matters not to the faithful saint what comes or goes so that we are in the path of our duty doing the will of 0 our father in heaven according to the tile best of bar ability I 1 might relate some circumstances that would uon mon probably be interesting to some of you but in relation to the acts of men abroad in the wo world rid tid I 1 care very little about them and it is seldom I 1 think they are worth noticing at all I 1 do not feel to occupy much of your time this morning but I 1 do feel to bear my testimony to the truth of this work and to tell my ray faith and confidence in god our oar heavenly father belaev believing irig 1119 i and nd feeling assured that ha he will bear off this kingdom triumphant and that he will also aiso als ais bring us off olF victorious as a people if we will live our religion I 1 pray god continually that we may take lake a gourse bourse course to honor our being for if we ure are honoring our being then we are honoring our father who is in heaven I 1 pray that the lord will enable anable us to do this and aud to carry out in la our lives every good and virtuous principle that we may honor him while we live here in the flesh that when we return to his bis presence we may be acknowledged as having been faithful in our probation antho on the earth and may god bless and preserve us all to come forth in the glorious resurrection odthe just to inherit all the blessings laid up for the tha faithful this is my prayer talha latha name of jesus amen |
