Seven Green Sheet area residents will serve on the advisory council of the County Division of Community Development during the coming year. The council will help with developing a plan to make physical improvements in the countys unincorporated area. Ultimately, a determination will be made on how to spend about $2 million during the programs 10th year, beginning next Julyl. Among the area residents seven Green Sheet on the council is 5839 Waterbury way, as chairman of the vice chairman is Sheral Schowe, who will serve The council. Russell J. Ray of Copperton. The Police Department here has named Brooke Plotnick as its January officer of the month. Plotnick was selected for the honor because of initiative he showed in December which resulted in the arrests of two people for vehicle burglary. Responding to a burglary call, Plotnick chose to look for the suspects himself, while the leads were fresh, rather than waiting fcr detectives. Plotnick found one of the suspects and obtained enough inhumation from him to track down tiie second suspect. For many years the senior citizens have been welcome at these events, but have had to call the school ahead of time to make arrangements. Now the card will make it more convenient for them. This is one way we have of saying thanks to our many older volunteers in the schools, said Dr. Gurr. We have a great group in the foster grandparent program at Hartvigsen school and practically all the other schools have had such helpers, she WEATHER SUMMARY 1983 said. At Morningside elementary there are 30 who qualify for the card, and the volunteer coordinator for the PTA is also over 65. She is Connie Tucker. Dr. Gurr said that these grandparent figures contribute a valuable service because they have the time and patience necessary. One woman, she noted, has brought her own rocking chair to the library at an elementary school so she can spend more time reading to the children and listening in a homelike setting.
