On Dec. 1, the War Department named the site on which the Ogden Air Depot was located as Hill Field. This was in honor of Maj: e Ployer P. Hill. Though Hill Field was officially renamed Hill Air Force Base on Feb. 5, 1948, the earlier designation has seemed to stick.
