Kaleel Tabish The engagement of Miss Yvonne Kaleel to Vera Joseph Tabish, was announced by her mother, Mrs. Rose Kaleel, 2S6 Hubbard Ave. The announcement was made at a dinner party Saturday evening given by Mrs. Kaleel at her home. There were twenty guests present. For the occasion the bride wore a navy blue linen sheath trimmed in white. Her accessories were also white and she accented the en-semble with a corsage of white orchids. The future bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Joseph Tab-ish, 324 E. 9th South. Ivie - Bethea Announcing the engagement of their daughter, Miss Gerrie Ivie to Rod Bethea of Los Angeles, are Mr. and Mrs. Clifford J. Ivie, 1270 Crandall Ave. Miss Ivie is present-ly living in San Francisco. The wedding will be March 1 in California, and the couple plan to make their home in Los Angeles. The bridegroom to be is a grad-uate of the University of Calif., in Los Angeles. Sugar House Ladv Lions Hear Of Life In Holy Land The Sugar House Lady Lions heard an interesting account of the Holy Land Thursday evening when they met at the Lion House for their regular dinner meeting. Uuest speakers were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hoopes who have re-turned recently after two years in Jordon. The Hoopes' also howed a group of beautiful slides taken while in the Holy Land. Mrs. Karl B. The new Mrs. Maxfield attended the University of Utah where she was a member of the Lambda Delta Sigma and Phi Mu. The bridegroom filled an LDS mission in Eastern Canada and also attend-ed the University. She has been the inspiration for many prenuptial parties and host-esses have included Mrs. Gallacher, Mrs. Conrad Maxfield, Miss Whyte, Mrs. Ezra T. Palmer, Mrs. G. S. Shurtliff, and Mrs. Hutchins. One of the most attractive brides" of the season is lovely Mrs. Mer-rill T. Maxfield the former Marlene Anderson. ' The young couple exchanged vows in the solemnity of the Salt Lake Temple Friday. Immediately following the ceremony the young couple was honored at a wedding breakfast at the home of the bride-groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant W. Maxfield, 2195 East 3205 South. The Reception Center was the setting for the reception feting the newly-wed- s, hosted by the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell E. Anderson, 2805 Alden St. The charming bride greeted her friends in a gowTi of Chantilly lace over satin. The scoop neckline was outlined with sequins and pearls. Fashioned with long sleeves and floor-lengt- h skirt which fell from a waist line that tapered to a point in front and ruffled in back. Attending the bride was Miss Marilyn Whyte, maid of honor; Mrs. Gordon Crawford and Mrs. Jerry Gallacher, sisters of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Jim Hutch- - Sugar House Kiwanis Honor Presidents At Country Club The week-en- d social activities in-cluded the annual Presidents Ball of Sugar House Kiwanis held at the Country Club. Honored guests were George T. Kingdon and the new president Vern V. Mackay. And special guests included Kiwanis district governor and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Peter W. Mickelson, and Mr. and Mrs. C. Oscar Drake, of the Salt Lake Kiwanis. Spring flowers and candlelight formed the decorations in the din-ing rooms. Mrs. Kingdon was lovely in a pink lace sheath and Mrs. Mackay chose a champagne gown of lace for the occasion. Seen visiting were Mr. and Mrs. James D. Moore and Dr. and Mrs. J. Emery Frank; Mr. and Mrs. Paul G. Hedges and Mr. and Mrs. J. Leon Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon A. Moves. Svvanee Singers Present Benefit The Salt Lake City Swanee Smgers, well-know- n men's chorus gave a benefit concert Friday at 8 p.m. in the Southeast Tabernacle, 2095 So. 9th East for the mission-ary fund, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. Sponsors for the chorus evening performance were the members of Browning, Whittier and Wilson Wards' 122nd quorum of Seventies. The program was under the di-rection of Earl Donelson, the Swanee Singers have given Salt Lake and Intermountain perform-ances for almost 40 years. As an independent organization composed of singers from every part of the city, the chorus recently toured the Northwest. Makes Home In San Francisco Miss Beverly King, who was re-cently employed with the Mountain States Tel. and Tel., was transfer-red to San Francisco. She was accompanied to the bay city by Miss Betty Hawks of Wen-dell, Idaho. They make their home at 947 Bush St., Nob Hill. Utah Artist Exhibits At Tower Theatre Now being shown at the Tower Theatre are a group of contempor-ary paintings by the well-know- n, Utah artist Elaine Michelsen. The works are impressions of the compilations of her experiences wrhich include landscapes, human figures and feature works done by the artist during her travels in Mexico. The exhibit may be viewed dur-ing the regular theatre hours. Mrs. Michelsen is well-know- n in art circles throughout the United States and is director of the Art Department of Westminster Col-lege. Granite District Will Discuss Building Projects The Granite Board of Education has decided to hold a public meet-ing to discuss the proposal of in-creasing the bonded indebtedness of Granite District for the purpose of constructing needed buildings. The meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29th, at 7:30 p.m. at the Cen-tral Junior High, 3031 South 2nd East. More than 250 lay citizens are expected to attend. The group presented a program January 16 at the Bon-neville Kiwanis club luncheon at the Newhouse hotel, and has a concert scheduled for February 17 at the First Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake City. Tentative plans also are being considered for the choir to make a second tour late in the spring through Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and northern Utah.
