While the staff of The OGDEN VALLEY NEWS inyitesmune Eee There are few words that can express our gratitude and appreciation for the ongoing and overwhelming support extended to our family with the loss of Brandi. In the confusion created by her passing, we missed many who came by to leave or send food, gifts, cards, flowers, and/or contributions. Many who have shared this kind of loss have stepped forward to speak of their own, and to extend their love, which has helped us to carry this heartache. We thank everyone, again, for the phone calls we haven’t been able to return, the prayers that are lifting, the sacrifices made by those who traveled long distances, waited in line for hours at the viewing, or had to stand during the services. None of this has gone un-noticed, and while we are trying to thank you all personally, we feel the need to acknowledge everyone we may have missed. Among many other things she loved to do, Brandi wrote once that leaving this earth was ok if you had a purpose. We feel that she did, and we can continue to extend the love she had for everyone and everything through an effort to educate people about what took her. We need to thank the following: The Standard-Examiner, The OGDEN VALLEY News, KUTV, KBER, Snowbasin Resort, The American Legion, The Hansen Family, The Ogden City and Weber Co. Fire Departments, The Coast Guard, and many others who shall remain unnamed, but they know who they are. We know we’ve still missed many. We would like everyone to know that contributions we’ve received in her behalf will go towards further efforts to prevent the kind of loss everyone who knew her are experiencing. Our hearts go out to you as well. Finally, Brandi loved this Valley. We hope that efforts are made by everyone determining its future, to do their part in preserving its beauty, character, and the wildlife she is now forever part o Thank you again, to all of you—both seen and unseen, The Jenkins Family Thanks the Community Community Support Appreciated During Illness The 26th of February 2006 marks the date that a fire took our home and nearly all that we owned. And yet we look back on it as one of the memorable years of our lives. The reason it is memorable is because of the many, many acts of kindness and service that we have received during this time. 6 tinue to receive. Our community, our friends, our neighbors, even thosewe were not aes with, gave to us that which we did not cen our knowledge, a home was located, cleaned, prepared, and supplied with all of the things we would need to live. This all happened in less than 24 hours from the time the fire finished off our home. The response was so overwhelming to our needs, that well over 20 garbage sacks of clothing and other items were given to those in need outside of the Valley. Looking back, it seems amazing how little our lives were disrupted and how quickly we were able to return from the chaos to peace and comfort. We would like to offer each of you our heart felt thanks; it truly made an immeasurable difference in our lives. Over the past 12 months, as we have proceeded to replace our home, and more miracles in the way of support and assistance have been given. Many have assisted in one way or another in personal labor or donation of funds toward our home. Several businesses have offered their services at reduced or no cost. Many of you may have noticed there is quite a big difference in the new house from the old one. It was drawn up to be much more modest, but because of the many that have helped, it is truly the house of our reams! We love you! I write this with a heart full of gratitude for the opportunity to live in this beautiful valley. Our surroundings are breathtaking, but I speak of a beauty much greater than what we see; I speak ofa beauty that comes from within. As the new year began, I started experiencing moments of losing my balance. At first I ignored them, thinking it was just a cold in my inner ear. Within a couple of weeks, the spells of dizziness were coming frequently and seemed to be getting worse. | wasn’t able to teach aerobics and had to stop driving. I visited an ear, nose, and throat specialist (ENT) who ruled out any inner ear problems, but did mention it could be a growth behind my ear at the back of the rain. We scheduled a CT scan and waited for the results. While waiting, my symptoms worsened. We i att Pollard, and emergency room doctor, what he suggested. When he heard that one of my legs was dragging when I had these spells, he told us he’d have a room waiting for us in the ER. Ina matter of hours, he was able to perform a variety of tests and inform us of the results. This was miracle number one for us since it had taken over a week to have, and get the results, for one CT scan. Dr. Pollard was able to rule out a brain tumor nd MS. The doctor on call that day was actually in an office I had been trying to get into but, being a new patient, I couldn’t get an appointment for over a month. Dr. Pollard was able to get me into this doctor within the week. Dr. Glen Biddulph at McKay Dee Hospital was a breath of fresh air for us. He had an idea of what the problem might be. Tests were lined up and a hole was found in my heart. The tests showed it was a good sized hole, and Dr. Biddulph was able to get me into a heart surgeon he had worked with at LDS hospital—Dr. Sherm Sorensen. By the next week, February 13, I was in the hospital having a device put in to plug the hole in my heart n Valentines Day I came home with a a repaired heart! I tell all of this because it could have been a nightmare.
