Show PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Friends of the family, co-workers through church circles and communiy acquaintances were shocked to hear of the recent death of Mr. Albert Speers after a very short illness. He was very active in church work, having been Secretary of the Sunday School and a recntly elected trustee of the church. Church activities for the week ahead listed a meeting of the Ladies' Aid Society, of which Mrs. Walter Strumm is the president, on next Tuesday afternoon, Sep tember 9, at the home of Mrs! Majry McKay, 1150 Downington. . A 25 cent luncheon will be served serv-ed at 1 o'clock. Section two are in charge of this event. The Womerys Missionary Society So-ciety enjoyed a very pleasant opening op-ening Fall meeting at Ferry Hall on Westminster campus on last Thursday afternoon. All troops of Scouts are now meeting regularly reg-ularly each week at the church. Sunday School and Christian Endeavor En-deavor activities are now taking on new Iife with the beginning of school activities and the close of the vacation perid. Eminent leaders addressed the 62nd annual meeting of the famous fam-ous Northfield conference which has just been in session. Gaius Atkins, professor ameritus of homiletics and sociology at Auburn Au-burn Theological Seminary, said, "Nationalism may be the most mischievous thing which can be released in this world of ours, but somewhere feeling through it all is the touch of the everlasting God. Nationalism must be interlocked, inter-locked, nation with nation, kind with kind, until beneath all are the securities of our common se curity. Wherever are the great steadfast orders of our days and our tasks, there underneath .are the everlasting arms. A |
