Utah (' - PageA7 OBITUARIES, M0FIE ON A10 Rhoda Johnson Hendricks Hampton 28 June 1906 - 13 May 2001 Rhoda Johnson Hendricks Hampton, age 94, a resident of the Idaho Falls area most of her life, passed away May J3, 2001 of natural causes incident to age. 1 She was born, a twin, June 28, 1906 on a farm east of Idaho Falls to Gustaf and Anna Sophia Johnson. Her twin, Ruby was born 12 hour later. They had 8 older brothers and an older sisChris-tenso- n ter. Rhoda attended elementary and High School in Idaho Falls. Following graduation of salutatorain of her class. Rhoda entered Nurses Training School at the newly-opene- d LDS Hospital and received her RN degree in 1927. Following her graduation from Nursing School, she filled a 26 month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints, spending 8 months in Minneapolis, Minnesota; and eighteen months in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. After returning from her church mission, she entered Brigham at Provo, Utah, where she organized the first nursing department and taught classes in Personal Hygiene. During that time she also served a year as school historian. She graduated from BYU with a degree in Home Management in 1934. She returned to Idaho Falls where she became Public Health Nurse for Bonneville County which included supervision of nursing classes in the County Schools. She taught many classes in Home Nursing and persona hygiene. On August 13, 1940 she married Milo C. Hendricks, a young building contractor, President of the Idaho Falls Construction Company. They parented four sons and a daughter. When Milo passed away in Young University . Dwain J. Finlinson OAK CITY 1951, Rhoda returned to the nursing profession. In 1952, she married Delbert V. ("Shay") Hampton, a vidower and former business associate of Milo Hendricks. Shay passed away June .21, 1982In 1954 she was stricken with what was thought to be Bulbar Polio which paralyzed her vocal cords and rendered her speechless for a year. She learned to speak imperfectly by using her throat muscles. Her affliction was recently diagnoses as a disorder of the basal ganglia of the brain, "Spastic Abductor Laryngeal Dysphonia." She could no longer work in any capacity involving public speaking, so she supervised a number of nursing homes in the Idaho Falls area, principally the Carson Nurs- ing Home at Rigby, Idaho for 17 years, between 1962 and 1979. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by four sons: Thane J. Hendricks and Milo B. Hendricks of Las Vegas, Nevada; Lance B. Hendricks of Billings, Montana; and Kent N. Hendricks of Edmonton, Alberta Canada; and one daughter, Karla Huntsman of Orem, Utah. Elma Delilah Snow Hansen, iil, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, passed away May 15,2001, 'at the Beehive Home in Pleasant Grove. She was born October 23, 1919, in Monticello, Utah to Charles and Ada Delilah King Snow. She 'married Leslie Oscar Hansen on March 19, 1943, in Monahans, ,Texas. Their marriage was in the LDS Temple on April '19, 1956. Leslie preceded her in Meath on April 26, 1977. ' Elma graduated from high school in Loa, Utah as Valedictorian. She then attended Henager's Business College in Salt Lake City Sheworked as a secretary for the Civil Service for many years. She loved to read, do genealogy, and tatting. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints having served in many positions. She is survived by two sons and one daughter: Richard L. solem-,'nize- (Virginia) Hansen, Pleasant Grove; Carol (Dave) Sharp, Salt Lake City and Roger W. (Sonya) Hansen, Provo; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Emery Snow, Salt Lake City and Fern Petersen, Monticello. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers, Clyde, Byron, and Merrill and sisters, Alice Snow, Ila Snow and Vera Taylor. Funeral services will be held ; ( d Saturday, May 19, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 North, Orem, Utah. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and also Saturday morning from 11:45 to 12:45 prior to service. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
