Show SF. State prof to speak on teachers' strike i Dr. Norman Wallen, one of the 300 striking teachers at San Francisco State University and a member of the faculty executive committee will be on campus Monday at 2 p.m. in the Union Den to discuss the teachers' side of the conflict there. Dr. Wallen, a former University professor, is coming to tell students and faculty about the situation and give his justification for the striking teachers. "He feels the whole thing has been given poor coverage by the press," said Ken Williams of the Dean of Students office who is making arrangements for Dr. Wallen's visit. "It is his intention to present the other side of the ruckus as it relates to the striking faculty." After graduating with a PhDt psychology from Syraw University at Syracuse, New Yoit Dr. Wallen came to the Univeia and taught here until 1964. 1 then joined the faculty at'sir Francisco State as a professor C: educational pyscology where it has been very deeply involved i; the teachers' union. He has been doing reseats recently in the San Francisco is, concerning the problems of higher education in relation to povm groups, particularly the Negro. Di Wallen is also involved in reseat! . regarding curriculum and learnirs as they relate to school systems t the American educational program. Reed Merrill, chairman ot Ik Department of Education! r psychology will introduce Di Wallen. The rest of the prograc will be open to questions fron students. All are invited to attend |
