' " BYRON COLLETT CANDIDATE CAN-DIDATE FOR UTAH LEGISLATURE The chairman of the Duchesne Du-chesne County Republican Party Central Committee has filed declaration of candidacy for the state representative post for Duchesne and Wasatch Counties. He is Byron S. Col-lett, Col-lett, 64, Duchesne, a self-employed self-employed oil well pumping contractor. The candidate has been a resident of Duchesne County for 35 years. He lives on a 12 -acre site in a rural area near Duchesne. In 1948-1950, he was chairman of the Republican Party in this county; and from 1948-1952, he was assessor for j Duchesne County. His service as bishop of the Duchesne Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was for three years, 1948-1951. For three years he labored as a missionary in Australia, 1921-24. He was called from his home ward, Maeser, near Vernal, where he was born. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Sylvanus Collett. He married Clela Young, Vernal. She is a retired school teacher. They have two daughters, who are married. From 1920-1927, he was a rancher in Wyoming. Then the family moved to the Tabiona area. Here Mr. Collett was instrumental in getting electricity elec-tricity brought to the Duchesne i River area, through the Rural Electrification Assn. program. From 1931-1942, he was employed by the U. S. Forest Service in the Tabiona -Hanna and northwestern Duchesne County area, as a road and trail construction foreman. One major project for .which he was foreman was the construction con-struction of the Rock Creek road. Also, he served as a fire guard for the Forest Service. |
