Garcia, Mexico The Garcia Branch was T. Whetton as presiding elder. organized Alonzo L. Farnsworth and his wife were the first LDS settlers in the: area. They located in the flourishing settlement in 1894. Ocher settlers, who formerly belonged to the Pacheco Ward, followed, and as the settlement increased the branch was organized, ., Land was purchased from Telieforo Garcia, a former owner of the ranch, in whose name the settlement was named. The branch became a ward in 1898. Bishop Whetton presided over the ward until July, 1912, when the members of the church left Mexico, because of the revolution.
