Show ' Delta South Elementary DSE Honors The new Nebo 1st District CFWC officers were installed by Verlene Hardman State CFWC President in Fillmore on May 4th Cherry! Wood President Marilyn Church Vice President Judy Huntstman and DaNehl Worwood Historian Holden Scouts earn “Snake Skin Award” At the Millard District Court ofllonor held on May 4th the loldcn scouts w ere awarded the traveling "Snake Skin Awjrd" for earning more points at the district's annual Spring Camporcc held on May at Squidike Spring The Holden boyscom- - peted ith the other troops in the Millard district in various scouting activities and garnered just enough points to “win the skin” They will keep it with their troop at least until the Fall Camporee when they will again vie for the coveted award Delta North Elementary 4th Graders conduct mock trials Delta North fourth graders appreciated the opportunity to present a mock trial with Judge Deb Haven Judge Haven explained court procedures l process and the different levels of the court system in Utah She discussed court rules crimes committed and sentencing Each class put on a presentation featuring the Slate vs Gold E Locks A mock trial was held and tried before a jury The jury decided if Miss Gold E Locks was guilty or innocent of criminal trespass After the verdict was reached Judge Haven discussed the case and its merits w ith the students Fourth graders came away with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the law and its application in the state of Utah 5th Graders enjoy visit from “The Living Planet Aquarium” On May 15 Delta 2002 North 5 graders had a special Ram Forest assembly pre sented by Michelle Keller and Aaron Millard Countv Chronicle Progress Also at the barbecue Mr Myers gave Mrs Jenenc Monroe a special award for her efforts with the Olympic program and activities at DSE this academic year The principal expressed his opinion that the program will probably prove the most outstanding event in the school's history Mrs Holly Nisscn first grade teacher was also honored at the dinner as DSE’s Teacher of the Year She w as nominated and elected by her peers graders create volcanoes Fifth grade science students of Mrs Karen reChristensen cently made volcanoes of sand mud rice plaster knspies paper mache and clay They are pictured with their creations The students then erupted their volcanos for their classmates They used confetti egg whiles foaming vinegar and soda in a variety of colors steam from dry ice flour sand and combinations of the preceding One even used salsa and chips for the eruption The students also had to identify the type of volcano by the way it emptied and its shape DSE 1st THE FRI IT OF LONGSUFFERING Do you have the fruit of longsulTering in your life?
