Quinn Sullivan of Park City, died on Tuesday at the Holy Cross Hospital. He was a native of Ireland and was 55 years of age. He left two daughters who reside in Cripple Creek. A dear little choir erirl bravely refused re-fused a second piece of peach pie one evening last week, because, she said, "it is Lent, you know." Only a small sacrifice, perhaps, but the thought was-beautiful was-beautiful from a 6-year-old child. Mrs. E. J. Pratt has kindly donated new gas fixtures for the Church. The members of the choir, and partieuliVly the members of the Children's choir extend gratoful thanks to her for her thoughtful consideration for them. The young people of St. Mary's and St. Patrick's, who are always lamenting lament-ing over the lack of sociability in the parishes, are particularly invited to join the Literary and social Society. Mr. De Koster of Idaho Falls, visit- j ed Salt Lake during the past week and made a pleasant call at the Intermountain Intermoun-tain Catholic office. The gentleman expresses ex-presses himself as much impressed with the city and hopes to reside here soon. Mrs. Hyrum B. Barton, a sister of Mrs. J. T. Little, died on Sunday, after a bmg illness. The news of her death wan received with great regret by a : wide circle of friends. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon from theM residence of Mrs. Little. Mr. J. P. Murphy sang Dudley Buck's "Salve Regina" at St. Mary's last Sunday. Mr. Murphy is a leading baritone of St. Louis, and has kindlv given his services here for the last few weeks. He leaves for St. Louis this week and will be sadly missed by the congregation of St. Mary's. The Bryant school had a verv interesting inter-esting art exhibit last week, for the purpose of raising funds to buy more pictures for the school. The sum realized real-ized was $82. Mary Hailoran, the bright little daughter of Mr. W. J. Hailoran. won the prize a beautifullv bound book for selling the greatest number of tickets. Room five won the prize given for the largest number sold by any room. This prize, a handsome picture, pic-ture, was won principally through the efforts of little Marv, she selling 173 tickets. The Catholic Literary and Social Club held its monthy meeting on Tuesday Tues-day night, at the C. K. of A. Hall on Brigham street. Many new members joined. Rt. Rev. Bishop addressed the society, congratulating it upon its splendid success and assuring the j members of his assistance. It may be i mentioned that the Bishop has taken j a great interest in the success of this i new organization and at the comple- I ticn of the new Cathedral, he savs he will turn over the present Church to the different Catholic societies as a meeting hail. Certainly Catholics of Salt Lake should be delighted with the great strides that the Church is making, mak-ing, especially in this Holy Year. Let us all unite and pull together. Don't stand in the background and apologize apolo-gize for your religion; or for being on earth. An apologist never cut verv much congealed atmosphere in this world, and it is reasonable to suppose he won't do so in the next. |
