Show PIONEER OF UTAH PASSES AWAY The man many friends of James Beeston will bo be grieved ed to learn of the tho demise of this venerable and well known gen gentleman gentleman Mr Beeston was born In England 73 yearn ago and aud since then he has led lod a lire life which could we well ho bo talon as an example by any anyone anyone one At the age of 17 ho he was one of the guards to Queen Victoria In London In that same year he was I Ican can converted to the Mormon religion and giving up all his prospects of gaining renown In the British court he came cameto to Am America For a number of years he resided In Now York aad being a l zealous worker In the tho Interests of his church he be was made president or of orthe the New York branch o of tho Church In 1860 In he was the tho captain of a brave little band of Immigrants who sot set out for Utah He came to Ogden and made his home hom hero soon after arriving In Utah While n a resident of this city he has hns boon beon active In church and other othor affairs and has made a largo large number or of friends s hero He was for fora a long time a member of tho nacle choir but for the past few years he has been too feeble to get 1 about much For the tho past seven weeks he has I been afflicted wIth pneumonia In and at eight Ight last evening ho he suc succumbed to the ravages of that disease I while at his residence 2795 Park Ave I He Is survived by a wife ono one sister in Connecticut two sisters In Eng England England I I land and five stepchildren The step stepchildren stepchildren children are aro Thomas J 1 Harris J D Harris and Mrs Irs Angeline Hollins ot of i Ogden and Mrs C D White and Mrs I R H Hm Hill of Salt Lake Funeral I arrangements will be announced later |
