Evans Jr. of Price visited here Sunday -with his grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. A. J. Evans, and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Taylor and daughter of Magna were visiting relatives and friends in Lehi on Monday. Mrs. Blanche Evans and son, Dan, spent Saturday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thurman In Salt Lake City. Mrs. E. J. Chrlstofferson and daughter, Ivy, and Mrs, Rebecca Wilson spent Friday visiting in Salt Lake City. On Wednesday Mrs. Chrlstofferson and daughter, Ivy, spent the day visiting with Mrs. Roy Harris in Magna. Welsh of Salt Lake City spent the week end here visiting visit-ing with relatives. Miss Mary Midgely and Mrs. Ben Rose of Salt Lake City were guests of Mrs. Alice Tuckfield and Mr. and Mrs. Mack Holmstead, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Klnsey announce an-nounce the arrival of a lovely baby daughter, born Sunday morning. All concerned are doing nicely. On Saturday Mrs. Wallace He-bertson He-bertson and Mrs. George Pierce of American Fork were visiting in Salt lake City. They visited with Mrs. Dale Clark in the forenoon and later attended "Gone With The Wind" at the Paramount Theatra. Word comes from Miss Laurel Hutchlngs, who left last week for the Northwestern States mission, that she has been assigned to labor in Eugene, Oregon. She states that she is thrilled with the beginning of her work and we are sure she will be a very efficient missionary. Mrs. Carlton F. Wilson entertained enter-tained at a miscellaneous shower at her home in Provo Wednesday evening in honor of Miss Laurel Hutchlngs, who has left for the Northwestern States mission field. A large number of friends were present and enjoyed delightful games and a delicious luncheon. Many lovely gifts were presented to Miss Hutchlngs. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd B. Adamson attended a party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Adamson in Pleasant Grove Monday evening, the occasion being Mr. Marlon Ad-amson's Ad-amson's birthday anniversary. The two Mr. Adamsons are brothers. Mrs. Lloyd B. Adamson entertained enter-tained at a delightful children's party on Thursday, honoring t he tenth birthday anniversary of her daughter, Elaine. A clever Valentine Valen-tine idea was carried out in the room and table decorations. The favors were dainty Valentines and prizes were Valentine chocolate hearts. After playing a number of lively games, the guests were served delicious refreshments. Lehi Stake Patriarch and Mrs. Andrew FJeld celebrated their fiftieth fif-tieth wedding anniversary by entertaining en-tertaining at "open house" at their i home Sunday afternoon. I Close to two hundred friends and ' relatives called between the hours of 1:00 and 7:00 p. m., leaving happy I anniversary wishes. Many beautiful cards and flowers were sent to the couple and many friends from out of town called over the telephone to wish the couple a happy anniversary. anni-versary. 1o everyone who came, a souvenir souve-nir card, containing their picture and an original poem, was presented. pre-sented. Dainty refreshments were served to the many callers. Patriarch and Mrs. Fjeld were married February 19, 1890 in the Logan L. D. S. temple. Andrew FJeld was the youngest son of Carl J. E. Fjeld of Norway, and the only child of Anna Anderson Ander-son Fjeld, of Sweden, both of whom were hand-cart veterans. He was born May 30, 1806 in'. Lehi, Utah. As a boy he herded cows on the "Low Hills" and in the "Bottoms," attended the Lehi public schools graduating from the "Fifth Reader" grade under Slmond Peter Eggert-sen. Eggert-sen. In church work he began in the Priest's quorum under the presidency presiden-cy of John L. Gibbs, being promoted pro-moted to the Elder's quorum under Father Lott Russon's regime, to the Seventies quorum under William Wil-liam Yates administration and to tle High Priests while John Austin was president. At various times he held most of the offices, in the Young Men's Mutual Improvement association, including that of president. He was a Sunday School teacher for a number of years prior to becoming the superintendent of the Lehi Sunday Sun-day School November 18, 1894. In January, 1899, he was released from the Sunday School and sent on a mission to Australia, where he occupied oc-cupied the positions of traveling Elder, El-der, president of a conference, and president of the mission. He returned to Lehi the day before be-fore the corner stone of the Lehi tabernacle was set, which occurred September 13, 1901V Aboiit a week later he was set apart as a president presi-dent in the 68th quorum of Seventy Seven-ty and in the following November was made a counselor to Bishop Thomas R. Cutler. Upon the division of the Lehi ward December 20, 1903, he was ordained a bishop and set apart to preside over the Lehi First ward. When the Lehi Fifth ward was organized or-ganized February 29, 1920, he was made bishop and set apart to preside pre-side over the Lehi Fifth ward. He served until August 7, 1927. When the Lehi stake was organized in July, 1928, he was set apart as a high counselor and on June 25, 1939, was ordained a patriarch. Mr. Fjeld was elected a member of the city council November 8, 1893, serving one term. He was elected a member of the Lehi school trustees July 10, 1905, serving three years. He was a member of the Pioneer committee who erected the pioneer monument in November, 1908, and published the history of Lehi in 1913. He married his next door neighbor, neigh-bor, Eliza A. Broadbent, in the Logan Lo-gan temple, February 19, 1890. Eliza A. Broadbent Fjeld, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Dixon Dix-on Broadbent, English hand-cart veterans, was born August 17, 1870, on the same block in Lehi, on which she has resided all of her life. When a girl she attended the public schools, graduating from the "Fifth Reader" grade under the first modern school teacher in Lehi, Simon Peter Eggertsen. She clerked in her father's store and assisted with the household duties in the home, her mother being an invalid a number of years prior to her death in 1888. After her marriage she was' very busy with her home duties caring for her children and her husband's aged mother, while he was out on church work. She labored for a time as an officer offi-cer of the Primary association before be-fore the division of the Lehi ward and was a member of the Relief society so-ciety presidency in the Lehi Fifth waid. She has been a teacher in this organization for many yean and is still serving in this capacity. She has also served for one term as captain of the Snow Springs camp of the Daughters of Pioneers. Mr. and Mrs. Fjeld have the following fol-lowing living children: Leona, (Mrs. Kenneth E. Noyes) of American Fork, Edna A Cook of Lehi, June (Mrs. Fred Carter) of American Fork, Alan E. Fjeld of Salt Lake City and Velma (Mrs. Dell Asay) of Lehi. Mitchell were guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. West at a party in Salt Lake City Wednesday evening. Mrs. Lawrence McDonald and small son, Phillip Ray, of American Fork have been spending the past week in Lehi with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Gray. Mrs. Morris Trane and son, Paul, of Salt Lake City spent from Thursday Thurs-day until Sunday here visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Lott. Dewey Gaisford of Mammoth spent the week end here with his mother, Mrs. Sarah E. Gaisford. Miss Lila Gaisford and Glen Ofelt accompanied him back to Mammoth Sunday evening. Bee-Hive Group Enjoy "Fun Fest" Hyrum A Anderson is spending this week in Logan attending a special spe-cial course on eradication of noxious weeds at the Utah State Agricultural Agricul-tural college. He left for Logan Monday morning. Mrs. David I. Gardner in company com-pany with Mrs. Eleanor Nelson of Logan, department president of the American Legion Auxiliary, attended attend-ed auxiliary meetings in Salem and Provo on Wednesday. They are attending at-tending a meeting in American Fork today (Thursday). Adams spent Monday visiting in Salt Lake City. . ' Mrs. John Stoker has received word of the arrival of a new great granddaughter. The new baby was born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shey of Salt Lake City ' on February 12. The mother, formerly Miss Fern Speer, is a granddaughter of Mrs. Stoker. Mother and baby are doing do-ing nicely. The Junior Athenian club members mem-bers were delightfully entertained at the home of Mrs. Alta Webb on Thursday evening of last week. A very interesting review of the book, 'Consultation Room" by Dr. Frederick Fred-erick Loo mis was given by Mrs. Grant Y. Anderson of Pleasant Grove, after which the hostess served dainty refreshments. A Valentine Val-entine idea was carried out. The Bee-Hive Girls of Lehi stake were entertained at a "Fun Fest" Wednesday evening in the Second ward chapel. The affair was given in honor of the Sliver Jubilee year of Bee-Hive work, s Each ward represented a nation, with girls wearing costumes designating desig-nating that nation. Countries represented rep-resented were China, Honolulu, American Indian, French and Tonga Ton-ga Islands. The entire affair stressed the Silver Sil-ver Jubilee and an outstanding feature fea-ture was the theme song and dance by the girls. A number of lively games were conducted and a delicious de-licious luncheon served. Each ward furnished a serving of food for the group. The stake leaders, Mrs. Lloyd B. J Adamson, Miss Mia Chrlstofferson ! and Mrs. Jean Phillips, were in charge of the affair, assisted by the following ward bee-keepers: First ward Mrs. Florence Jensen, Mrs. Thelma Webb, Mrs. Leola Dur-rant; Dur-rant; Second ward Mrs. Annie L. Miss Hutchlngs arrived in Portland late Friday night. The Bridgedere club were entertained enter-tained at the home of Mrs. Zilpha Wilkins on Friday afternoon of last week. Bridge was played at small tables during the afternoon, Mrs. TJelma Miller winning first prize and Mrs. Evelyn Holmstead, the traveling prize. Mrs. Edith Kirk-1 Kirk-1 am was a special guest. A prettily-appointed luncheon was served by the hostess. On Friday, March 1. the club will be entertained at the home of Mrs. Doris Ricks. Mrs. Newell Turner attended a combination birthday and Valen tine party at the home of her sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Lloyd Eatchel, of Murray. Games were played during the evening eve-ning and a very dainty luncheon was served Just before midnight. Mrs. Eatchel received many lovely gifts.
