S church To the Saints in conference assembled l lI I 1 sincerely regret that I am amnot amnot not present with you at this opening openIng openIng open- open Ing meeting of our conference I know of the spiritual uplift that will come to you Through the tM i years I have always counted it a J great blessing to participate with my brethren and sisters in general conference I Visits San Diego x xI I left home on the bf Jannary January January Jan- Jan uary nary and attended the dedication of the Mormon battalion monument monument ment ent at San Diego and was one I of the speakers experiencing much liberty in my talk I enjoyed the meetings They were a great tribe trib tribute ute to the achievement of our people I was pleased with the talk of Brother Andrew Jenson I Ithen Ithen then attended the conference at Inglewood stake In the morning I didn't feel well enough to speak but spoke in the afternoon for I about 40 minutes with perfect liberty That night I 1 was feeling poorly and the next morning was removed to the hospital for medical medical medical medi- medi i cal attention and treatment The IW treatment there was successful I Iwas e ewas was very glad I had Brother McKay Me- Me Kay call caU on me in the hospital and give me a blessing and I am grateful grate- grate grater T r 1 ful beyond expression for tor the faith s' s 7 1 and prayers of the Saints 1 I know of a 8 certainty that your prayers J. J have been heard and answered in my behalf I 1 am very grateful that now pow I Ican Ican can be around working at times v v but mostly resting exercising and taking care of myself to the end nd i V that I may realize a full recovery ry About the middle of March I moved 1 from the hospital to the home of ot i imy my grandnephew Del Grant where 3 I have been comfortably located H Hand and have been improving ng in my health every day making really y astonishing advancement according according according accord- accord ing to the doctors a f Hoped to Speak RP I had hoped to at least speak 1 to the conference by radio but the doctors feel It unwise to subject C myself to that hat great str strain in They i feel too that it would b be b better betterto to regain my st strength before before mak m 1 akin ak- ak in ing an an attempt to return return n nome me f Therefore Therefore I s shall all remain here for Io crl a few weeks Vee s more The doctors feel it a matter of wisdom for me meto me meto to to stay here another few weeks even though there would be little danger of I were to return home s now J.
